  • Thank you!  I'll show in detail, I'm in testing mode atm.  Though...you may notice these are from previous character sets I've put into the store. ;)

  • Quick test render close up of one of the right arms.

I went back and looked to see which characters.  Those tats are on the characters I have wishlisted, but haven't bought yet!  No wonder I like those tats so much!  :)  Khai, I'm still waiting to get a good deal on Lee 7 so he's wishlisted for now.  Alexander, I'm hoping to pick him up the next time your shop goes on sale.  I didn't recognize that leg tat on Toruun from that angle as you can't see those cool skulls from the front much.  Which now reminds me that I have some more men to render that I haven't rendered yet.  ;)  Dmitri might have to be next now that I've seen him again.  I don't know why I haven't rendered him yet!

  • lol- I can't wait to see what you do with him.  I have a tester running with my Scion atm.  When he's done, I'll post him up.

  • Scion sporting some of Dmitri's, Khai's, Torrun's and two new leg tats.

Now, that looks very nice!  :)

  • Thank you!

Last one for today- Dmitri wearing Khai's, Toruun's and a new let/torso tat (that you can't see).

Been quite a while since I abused a banana.  Just to be a tad negative, I really, really dislike this kitchen, but the stovetop's nice.

The banana looks awesomely realistic. Good one =-)

  • Great renders, all three.  Really love the sense of action and lighting, Serene.  Nemesis did a great job on Genesis- lovely character.  I also agree with Serene on the banana, well done, Butch.

  • Geez, I ignore most of the forums for just a short bit while working on project and a whole slew of good looking guys pop in!  :)  I like them all!  As for that kitchen, I love that stove top, but I'm not thrilled when I decide to render in that kitchen.  It is not the easiest thing to set up a render in.  @Butch  How long does that kitchen take to render in Octane?  Because CPU mode on my computer in Iray! You do NOT even want to go there!  a full 24 hours just for the kitchen and nothing else in the scene!

What kitchen ptoduct is it that is troublesome?

That's the Northern Terrace Kitchen.  It's very tight quarters for cameras and things mess up if you try hiding walls so you have to be extra fiddly with camera angles and stuff.  I'm not sure what it is about the surfaces that take so long to render in Iray at least in CPU.  I have no idea what it does with GPU.  It's beautiful, though, and the surfaces are really lovely.  For some reason, it has a black box all around  the model.  Maybe to keep out extra light?  That box seems to extend render times, but without it the render doesn't seem to be as good, no idea why.  I have a version saved where I'm replacing all of the surfaces with different shaders that I have to see if times are any different, but I haven't gotten to the point where I've run any renders yet to see what kind of a difference it makes.  I haven't rendered it in 3DL yet, but it does have 3DL presets for it.  It is one of my favorite kitchens because of that stove top.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't buy that PC+ item, so I wasn't aware of the issues. Thank you for sharing your experience with it.

No problem.  Novica ran a test on her system with the kitchen and share her results on my thread if you want to compare.  She has an nVidia card so her render was much faster.  My post with my test is here if you want more specifics about rendering and what the kitchen looked like.

    Thanks, everyone.

Fortunately, the kitchen was a PC freebie one week, so I didn't waste my money.  In all, this render was approx 1hr and it's using full daylight (windows are 0% opacity, to let light in), the entire ceiling's a light source and there's a prim light under the range hood.  It still seemed too dark, from this camera angle.  I could have removed the one and only removable wall, to let more light in, but it would have looked odd.

But, most of my renders are less than one hour.  I don't do super massive renders, only at 2000x2000, or thereabouts, then shrink them down.

Good renders. The alien is weird but it's still a good job creating and rendering it. I feel the kitchen render is good, about what you'd expect indoors from a typical camera, well maken a bit more highlights but that's mostly down to no easy way to say to DS 'make my character's face slightly oily'. The eyes look unusually small and resessed but they should shen they are that deep set.

Actually, the Kitchen Utensils that went with the set were the Freebie.  I'm pretty sure the Kitchen itself was a pay item.  Although, at PC+ intro prices, not a bad price.  Considering how long it takes my machine to render as is, I'm not sure if I would have jumped on it as quickly.  I would would love it if I could render that in an hour!  One of these days, I'll get an nVidia card for Iray.

You're right, but let's just keep my mistake between you and I.  No one else needs know wink

@nonesuch00  - they're his "bedroom eyes"... which is a polite way of saying they're squinty and hungover, from the night before laugh

Black and white done with NIK Tools.

It's bizarre, their facial features just... remind me of sailors from WWII clips. Weird.

    Well done!

Thanks @Knittingmommy.  Considering, the photoshop side of things took longer than the 15 minute render time, it worked pretty well   devil

@timmins.william  Thankyou.  The black and white makes all the difference, I think.

I've attached the full colour version for comparison.  Only postwork is repairing some pokethrough and adding the sig.

I think I like the color version best. But both are cool. I'm just a sucker for color.
