Actually, it is an increase to:
- Plugins more tightly integrated, and some available only through Premier
- Better coupon each month
- A free Character Bundle Each month
- Free Premier Exclusive content (other users can't even buy it) for free each time we release a Character Bundle (Even if you don't buy the bundle!)
- Tokens at a much faster rate (and they last longer now)
I doubt it. You see, I got offered a month of Premier for my quarterly Daz+ sub (So, $8/month), which has roughly 1 month left. However, another forum user (either above or in a related thread) posted they were offered 1 month for their Daz+ that expires mid-2025.
I don't like to tease content early, but I think you might the brand new Character Bundle dropping later this week (yes, it will be available for use with the free Character Bundle coupon) a bit different and exciting :)
Can someone confirm that you need to install the beta of DAZ Studio to use the Premier plugins? I'm in the middle of a few projects and don't really want to have two versions of Studio installed. I probably will subscribe to Premier since my PC+ will expire this month anyway, but I think I'll also wait a few days until all this craziness settles down.
Going forward it will be interesting to see what percentage of good quality content will be 'Premier only', and what dregs will be made available to rest of us. It's not only a matter of prices but also of availability. I expect the tiers will be:-
PA's get access to all tools, Premier get access to new tools, everyone else gets access to legacy tools.
Premier, you mean? Daz+ looks the same to me, but now costs 40% more.
Oh I see-it makes sense now that I look at why some are "Inactive." Well, while that's not ideal, I think Premier is still good to have because of the extra discounts. I had + before so it made sense to upgrade even if I only have the extra coupons and tokens.
Yeah you need the Beta to use the plugins. Discounts work right away.
Ah, but that's assuming that the Tokens will still have the same buying value. And as for the product tutorials... Bwwaaaa haaa haaa haaa haaa! DAZ has made so many promises about adding more tutorials in the past and has always fallen through on those, while most of the ones that did get made were of mediocre quality at best. These are the people who haven't bothered to update their manuals and user guide since the days of Genesis 2, and didn't want to add metadata to all the Rendo product they flooded the store with because it would be too much work.
This has been my experience. However, I assume that once 4.23 drops (hopefully later today, but maybe sometime this week) we will have access to the new plugins through regular Daz.
I am not seeing this page (even though I am paid thru April 2025). All I get is that I'm a base free member and that's it. No offer, no nothing - not even my current active Daz+ sub.
You are getting what you paid for, if you remain as a + member - nothing is being taken away from you in that respect. The issue is trading in the unused portion of what you purchased for something better.
@DAZ_Steve: So when is the Apple Silicon native version of DAZ Studio going to arrive? Apple is expected to release their 4th generation chips for Mac before the end of the year. DAZ Studio in its current form doesn't run natively on ANY modern Mac and hasn't for years. While the current version of DS runs, it doesn't run well (laggy and crashy with poor UI graphics, feature disparity w/PC.) I don't want more promises, I want a working product. Get. On. It.

Well, it looks like I could upgrade to Premier for one month or keep my Daz+ going until it expires on 4-19-2025. I'll keep what I have and probably cancel at the end. Getting Daz+ for a year during a discount was a really good deal for someone on a fixed income. Paying a monthly $10 subscription is a lot more expensive in the long run. I'm not sure if it is worth it for me any longer. There is definitely no way I'm paying nearly $19 a month for a software subscription. I don't use programs like Photoshop for that reason. If I can't pay once for a plugin that I want, then I will have to go without it or find something else that will do what I need. I'm going to be pretty upset if features/plugins I already have stop working or are never upgraded because they are part of Studio Premier now. Like everyone else, I'll have to wait and see how this all pans out.
And content that only works if you have a Premier membership? WTAF? How do they disable it if you cancel?
Nothing is being taken away from the Standard/Pro versions of DS, and we can fairly safely assume that any new features listed in the chnage log up to today, at least, will be part of the non-subscription package. I can't see why Daz would ruin the free versions, those would be needed to get people interested enough to sign up for the subscription version.
I haven't seen anything about the tokens offering lower discounts, you just get more and they last longer now (2 weeks). I didn't even realize the longer extension until I added something to my cart. It looks like right now everyone also gets double the tokens on the new releases (unless is a super secret Premier perk I have right now). With just one item at $10.77 you get 4 tokens. And the 2 tokens you can see I have available will get me an extra 13% off. If you really buy anything on a regular basis, it's worth it. More tokens with much MUCH more flexibility is a win/win. Then you add the free bundle each month. THEN you add the better monthly coupons that replace the Daz + tier.
By the way, those tokens were acquired yesterday so I'm not sure if it reset the expiration date or it was longer, but 2 weeks is a huge improvement-I have felt the need to decide whether or not to spend my tokens or let them expire and it's caused me to justify spending more than I probably needed to.
Ah, I mis-read and thought you were discussing Premier. My apologies.
They'll sent Richard to knock on your door, and seing he's a cut cat (at least in the funny renders done by @Barbult), you'll open him the door and bam, while your doing other thing, he will rush pawnfully fast to your computer, removing the content you're no longer allowed to use.
(a more down to Earth hypothesis: it'll required either an always online connexion or a connexion a month to update the status of your membership, saving the date at which it'll end in the database used by DIM and Daz Studio).
Your forum profile shows you still a mamber, are you not getting the proper Daz+ prices in store?
I had not even calculated that...not that I was planning to upgrade at that price anyway. Content is expensive enough without adding that additional software rental fee.
You are not the only one ;)
Saw the ads on youtube today about daz premier and Daz4.23 and they left me confused. In the 4.23 ad most of the new features are also showed in the premier ad. Can someone tell us please, which features will be in the regular version and which ones will be paywalled? Or 4.23 will be *the* premier Daz program?
Ninjaedit because I forgot (and according to search no official answer was given - or I'm bad with search):
I can't find annual sub options (Daz+ or premier) anywhere. Is it intentional, no annual option to purchase from now on or just an accident/oversight?
Can Daz Steve or Richard answer this one question.
If I have daz + until february of 25, I won't have to start paying 9.99 for it until then? And at that point I can switch to Premier for 18.99?
Don't feel bad. I got an orange banner, but still no personalized offer anyway ;).
as long as it was all-expenses covered I would be fine with that, but I believe the content will need to be installed through Daz Connect (through Daz Studio) and that it will need you to log in occasionally (I don't know how frequently) to keep the content and plug-ins active.
Yes, if you do nothing your existing subscription will run as it does now until it is time to renew.
I know it's been said before, but as a general thing I wish folks would just stop thinking we all want to be in endless subscriptions. I want less subscriptions. They tend to lead to more stagnant products.
Developers have to make it worth it to pay for that product again. If they have subscribers, it's a much lower bar to avoid cancellations, and most people just want to maintain access. PC+ as a discount club membership, paid annually, was fine - it generally paid for itself. For some folks, new users, maybe the new program will offer similar value. But I don't like tying software features to the subscription - I would rather buy those features outright.
@Richard Haseltine - I only see Credit Card for setting up a Payment Method. Does Daz no longer accept PayPal for subscribing to Daz+ (or Premier)?
Still looking for clarification here, no one has responded. To restate my questions succinctly:
1) If I click the 'remain Daz+' button, will my existing expiry date for my Daz+ membership still be honored? And will I NOT be billed $9.99/month until said expiry date?
2) If someone chooses to try out Daz Premier, perhaps taking advantage of the 'x months of Premier free' offer, but decide it's not for them and cancel Premier, will the previously existing Daz+ membership expiry date remain in force If someone then chooses to downgrads back to Daz+? I.E. if your Daz+ expiry date was say in 2025-2029, would said date still be honored as both parties, i.e. the customer and Daz3D.com, have previously agreed to?
I have other questions, but I seek answers to these two questions specifically.
