I just purchased this product and I love how it make it simple for a n00b like me to be able to create my own skins and such for characters. However, there is one little issue I have with the product.
When I have the app open and I want to look at what the changes I have made look like in Iray, I get a very bright light shining on the figure. Imagine the figure standing fairly close to an intense spotlight. In the texture mode, the lighting is normal. Is there something I need to do to adjust the lighting in the Iray mode so I can see my progress?
By the way, here is my first attempt.
Try this setting. We could not force it inside the script. This will get rid of the added brightness via script Iray preview.
I think there's a little bug with presets. I havent tried to duplicate this, to see if this happens every time, but in my latest test genital material preset has SSS Amount = 1, while rest of the body has 2, so there's a small visible seam. It's not a big deal to change it manually, but I thought you might want to know.
We will look into this and see if it can be duplicated. Was this with Iray or 3dl?
I debated and debated and debated and debated... and finally pulled the trigger on jumping to Genesis 3, thanks to this product (though Josh Crockett softened the field).
Also got a slew of other Zev0 Genesis 3 stuff.
(The fact that this is a merchant resource, and I have SP2 now to fiddle with skins further or provide starting points, are also big incentives)
finally joined us on the dark side ;) I often use g2 and g3 together you'll have to get the wear the all products too as well as g3 age morphs from Zev0 bunch of others there are a lot of good g3 stuff and g2 looks good along side them
Hi! I'm new to Daz and just bought the skin builder 3 ad on ... but it dosen't open when I try to use it... I have daz 4.9 on a Mac... it says it couldn't load properly and refers to the log...!?
Zev0, I have a question about the temp file folder. I have a separate runtime that I keep my own creations in and pointed the temp folder to the runtime. But SB3 is installed in my main runtime. When I tried to create my first skin, I got messages about not finding the resource files. Any thoughts on separate runtimes? And I guess since it's a merchant resource, I could always reinstall it in my personal runtime.
Hey Peoples, another great product. It will take time to get everything figured out but so far I just love the results.
Is there a reason why the tanlines don't get transfered to the anotomical maps? That is my ONLY issue, lol
There were UV seam transfer issues with the tanline blur and could not be transferred properly to the Genital UV. Unfortunately that is the downside with the Daz Anatomy using its own UV map. Same with the pubic hair options.

I would avoid different runtimes and would use the one the product is installed to. The scripts are very sensitive and multi runtimes would just complicate things.
This is even better than I expected it to be and I had some pretty high expectations given my experience with the SkinBuilder for G2F. This is a Randomized character using SkinBuilder 3 for the skin. I didn't read the manual yet, so I didn't end up saving the skin but that's next on my list. This is going to be sooo much fun to play with!

Zev0, I have another question but about Brow Remover. I've got a a merchant resource skin that I want to use with SB3 but it's has eyebrows on it. So I used Brow Remover to take them off. First, I started with default G3F which loaded all the default textures (not merchant resource) then I applied a grey shader, which removed all the default texture files. I manually loaded the MR face and ran the Brow Remover script, which successfully removed the brows. (I LOVE this tool. It was taking me at least an hour to do this in Photoshop and the tool does a MUCH better job.) Then I save the new face as a Material Preset so I could load it again on future projects. However, it tacked RyJeanne on the name of the MR file so now DS can't find it. I was so surprised I actually deleted all the files and completely redid the whole thing, making sure to save my scene file after clearing out the original textures. But same results. Here's an excerpt.
I just tried another experiment. I used Dimension 3D's DSON Editor to look at the Grey shader which was a freebie. Sure enough, it had the RyJeane image files embeded in the shader, even though they weren't used. So I removed the images from the file and save it as a different material preset. Then I loaded Georgia's material onto G3F, reapplied the grey shader, manually selected the MR face file and reran Brow Remover. Now the Georgia file name is embedded in the NoBrow material preset. I think there really is problem with BrowRemover. It seems to be caching the last used texture.

I've been working on workarounds for this, and the non-DAZ "New Gens for V7" product by 3FleetWolf at Renderotica works quite well with the tanlines. Just apply the SB skin to the figure, add the NewGens and the SB3 torso maps will load automatically to the gens. That said, I have found that adding NGS2 on top of Skinbuilder 3 can cause a very thin line to appear at the edges of the gen's torso map, but those are well outside the zone where the tan lines fall, and as they're only a pixel or so wide, a quick hit with the Healing Brush in photoshop takes them out in post.
Here's my second skin usng SB3, and as with my first skin (above) I'm using the NewGens and NGS2. Besisdes the tanlines, the veins, and stretchmarks seem to cross the join area perfectly fine. (Still trying out what to do about the eyebrows though, as they feel too monochromatic.)

Here is my first try. I read in the pdf that you can use merchant skin resources or textures from other character packs to build you skin upon. How is this achieved? I believe I read that you add the texture files to the resource folder and then the new added files will appear in the script. Do you have to rename the added textures and are you adding the icons as well? Also do you just work with the base skin and not the skin with makeup? Can the makeup textures be added as well?
My second try. I didn't realize how to save the skin with my first try, so it was lost. The skin has Anagenessis 2 applied to it and the mole on the nose is from "Lumps, Bumps and Beauty Spots".

I have no control over what happens in external tools. Brow Remover works fine on my end. I just did 4 characters now and all of them are working with and with no brow options saved. It is loading the correct texture files here and isn't asking for anything else.

If y'all are using Anagenessis 2, do you use it on your starting texture or after you've finished playing around with SB3?
EDIT: I guess what I'm wondering is how much I have to play around with shader settings before I use SB3. The merchant resource I'm working just came with maps and I'm on my own for all the Surface settings. If all I need is maps for SB3 that makes it a lot easier. And Anagenessis2 justs needs the maps - also easy. However, if SB3 really wants all those settings, I don't want to break anything by doing something weird. I probably should have just started with an existing character to play around with. Sigh..... and it's almost dinner on Sunday...
EDIT2: AHA!! Growing Up is merchant resource and has Material presets. Thank you Zev0!

I still get the issue after downloading the updated script...
What version of Studio are you running?
4.8.0.59
Skin Builder 3 requires Daz Studio 4.9.2.70 or higher to work. It is listed on the product page.
That'll be why then! Thanks for responding so fast.

Is the only way to have 'no nipples' is to start with a skin that doesn't have them?

Unfortunately not. This contains a nipple remover. https://www.daz3d.com/skin-blender. Other than that Nipples has to be removed manually.

Ah well. Photoshop's content aware fill can do wonders!
Very happy with this product.
My 1st attempt.
Sorry duplicate post.

Can you undo a step if you don't like the results? How would you do that?
Oh... I just discovered the Undo button. And the Iray preview button. Never mind...
