    mmm chocolate buttercream goodness.

the cake recipe didn't take any eggs, but there's a whole stick of butter in it.

checking out this angelfood cake recipe http://www.joyofbaking.com/AngelFoodCake.html
    it wants 12 eggwhites. 12?!

what would i do with all the yokes?

Freeze them in an ice cube tray and store them in a freezer bag - there are many recipes which call for yolks and no whites.

    http://www.fortysomething.ca/2010/04/recipes_to_use_up_extra_egg_yo.php

Complaint - I'm running out of cash for the DAZ sales. :( Really want Kibaretto's new shuttle... and the whole catalog... :(

Egg whites is what makes Angel Food cake so light and fluffy. Now i'm missing my Grandma, thank you! She made an Angel Food cake which was the best I've ever had. Good luck with yours!

Lots of Hollandaise sauce - on fish, or broccoli, or asparagus.

eggs and unsalted butter are going quick in my kitchen. trying to figure out how much i'll need to last threw a snowy 3-day weekend.

seems i need a double pan to make the sauce.

i should start thinking about entree recipes to go with the desserts. :)

Oooh and I can see the bright probably-full moon shining through the fog. Is actually kind of pretty.

Nope, waxing gibbous moon tonight. Waxing means growing, so it will be a full moon soon!
    Dana

Usually it's the other way around... growing (hair) means waxing... ;-)

Other way around? They are two words, meaning the same thing. I was just giving a definition for the sake of those who didn't know. In astronomy and meteorology they use the term Waxing with phases of the moon. Not everyone knows that.

I'm trying desperately to avoid spending more on content until my living situation stabilizes as if I go overboard, I'm going to need a beefier machine to render on (my Core i5 box is decent but not killer)! :gulp:

Poser content I have installed: 98GB. :bug: :bug: :bug: All this to render pinups and weird tentacle-squirrels... :blank:

Problem is, computer desk in temp room is impossible to sit on for longer than about 45 minutes before my butt falls asleep - it's basically a tiny ancient couch shoved under a fold-down desk that's part of a cabinet. :blank: :blank:

    A doggerel is barking
As I sit and write these words
    Sometimes they ring like Shakespeare
    And other times they're turds
As pen sets down on paper
    Or electrons fly about
    This doggerel is smelly
    Of that there's little doubt.

    A doggerel is howling
At the dark side of the moon
    As i sit here a-typing
Like i'm some kind of a loon
    This tiny bit is finished
And it does seem somewhat queer
    But I don't really give a darn
    I'm going for a beer!!!

    A doggerel is drinking
    Down at the bar,
    While his friends are thinking
    Did he come by car?

    Meanwhile back at the thread,
    the chatter continues unbound,
    Ps1borg someone said,
If not here, must have drowned.

ETA: hey, I thought I saw Terre,
yes, there's her post, over there!
Welcome back, you've been missed, (^_^)/

all you'll do is make a mess,
a tipple now and then is fine,
even if it's not all complaints and whine... ;-) )

...I have one, but running into configuration issues. For one, Win7 won't see my 1TB Drive even though it shows up fine in the BIOS. Second, even though the GPU is seen in the BIOS, I am stuck with crappy VGA on the display. Putting things together was a lot easier than I thought. getting it all to talk together seems to be another thing.

That doesn't sound like fun. And I hate doing hardware work! I'm a programmer, not a desktop tech. Doesn't matter...I can't afford Windows 7, let alone a whole new computer.

    Dana

...the hardware work was the easy part, it's all this OS and driver configuration setup stuff I have trouble with. This is where I need an IT tech to help me.

There should be an applet like "Disk Manager" or a "Manage Disks" button somewhere, you will need to use it to PARTITION the drive, is easy even I can do it, but I don't have much win hardware around and not win 7 or 8 so not sure what everything is called now. But Partitioning the disk is what you have to do to assign it a drive number that shows up on the windows desktop :).
..I have two drives one 250 GB high speed HD for the boot drive and a one TB HD for my libraries/runtimes. There is no partitioning involved.
KK? does the (new, blank) drive show up in the Computer Management->Storage->Disk Management section? (screenshot attached of my drives, but all mine are partitioned, formatted and visible...).

Under Win7, the "Computer Management" icon is hidden away under Start->Programs->AdministrativeTools->ComputerManagement.

(I have a little addition called "Classic Shell", which gives me a sensible (read: WinXP-like) Start button etc etc).
...didn't know that. Pplease bear with me this is the first time I've ever set a system up.

    I'll give that a try.

Can't sleep - dinner is churning in my guts like a Texas-sized barrel of acid. :blank: So, I present

    THE WRITERS LIFE
    By WoolyLoach

A writers life it is for me
I love to play with words, you see
They fly around like little birds
Beloved by all the geeky nerds
I like them short, i like them long
Sometimes they sound just like a song
Sometimes they fall a little flat
And no, i really don't like that!

    A writers life, too-rah, too-ray
Is to just scribble every day
The words bust out into the air
    Some blasted out my derriere'
A made up bit to make a phrase
I could just go for days and days
    Penning rhymes and scrawling prose
I never get enough of those.

A writers life, I like it best
I have to get it off my chest
Words come to me at dark of nig\ht
And do so give a chilly fright
I dream of sentences that rhyme
Though most are hardly worth my time
    Still i indulge my vanity
    While left with little sanity.

It could be worse, I so suppose
    I could be selling panty-hose
To mangy seals without their toes
    Or fishy-smelling Eskimos
I i hit the meter on the nose
Then dance around without my clothes
'Cause that's the way it always goes
    It's not illegal, I suppose.,

A writers life is full of thrills
It often doesn't pay the bills
So mow a lawn, or wash a car
Or sell cheap beer at some dive bar
You practice all the time there is
to try to make a story fizz
Just when you think the words all pop
Some critics says you are a flop!

A writers life, it's not for all
But when i write, I have a ball
Since when it's all been said and done
I find that writing's lots of fun
I scriven stuff without a care
And take it out so I can share
Youl'll read until you've had your fill
My words get right up in your grill!

On pyramids and blocks of stone
The scribes could not leave it alone
Lest Pharoahs fame soon start to fizzle
They would grab mallet and chisel
    Hammer on some hieroglyphs
On tombs and right into the cliffs
Some bids, a fish, dude with a spear
And other symbols not as clear.

A writers life, not all delight
It sometimes keeps me up all night
I just can't find the turn of phrase
And I won't much sleep for days
It gnaws on me just like a dog
That I would really like to flog
But I will not admit defeat
because by words I won't be beat!

And so this ode comes to an end
Perhaps the sleeve of care to mend
as I crawl back into the sack
And prat the words will not attack
Let's dream of baby goats and sheep
And please, oh nothing very deep
I'd rather just lay there and snore
    Insomnia I do abhor!

:blank: :blank: :bug: :gulp: :ahhh: :ahhh:
