I dove into the Shader mixer this weekend, been learning alot, I came to the realizaton that modeling stuff in Hex (or modo, or carrara, or wings 3d) doesn't do me much good if I don't have decent textures in cararra to apply. so I started figuring things out..

like this texture for the porch roof

was a bit less ambitious, in studio using my crappy opacity maps
can do lots of small grow objects ofcourse

    Interesting stuff..

playing around in Carrara with the ivy gen.

Using Bong, duplicating the ivy obj and adding a couple of lights to help differentiate the two.. and using the snow tool with a plain old photo background.

I love seeing how my project inspires so many artists to play :D

I still am not sure how I'm going to accomplish it ... lol ... but I am certainly having fun :D

While I was at work this weekend, I couldn't stop thinking about it so I finally got around to making a leaf woman this evening.

Used the technique I explained on page 1 of this thread.

I need a pin for one of my characters, and the only one I can find is part of a set I don't see me ever having use for. I don't want to spend the money on something I'll never use except for one little prop if I can avoid it.

Anybody know where I can find editable pins/buttons like this: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/details.php?item_id=52432

    Poser/Daz friendly required. :D

    Thanks :D

edit: never mind me... didn't read that it was a freebie texture set for a purchased product <(^_^).</p>

Lol, right, it's just an example of the kind of pin I want. The set that texture goes to is not really something I want. The pin just happens to be part of an entire outfit for an anime-style character.

If I have to, I'll but the set and just delete everything but the pin ... lol. But if there is a pin out there like this, either for sale or free, but not attached to a set I don't need, I'd appreciate it :D.

Oh well...there goes my very simple idea...

Just use a plane, with a transmap and displacement map...like this...

    Awwwe ... thanks, guys :D

I had thought about just using a plane, but I need the actual pin for other scenes in the book, where a model is best. So I thank ya'll for the gifts and links :D

I am looking for a pennant, no matter if it's free, an existing product or set, or a custom job. It's for a kids book and I need it today (authors ).

For those who may not know what I mean:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=pennant&404handler=true&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=LRYkUebaAeWz0QH08YHoAQ&biw=1104&bih=557&sei=MRYkUbznFayn0AHrqYDQCA

ps. How do I merge two threads of mine? I had forgotten about this thread when I asked about the button/pin, and would like to keep contributors and product requests all in one spot for later reference. Anyone know how I merge the two?

    PM one of the mods.

edit: There's probably one somewhere but figured it would be faster to just make one ... uvmapping a basic triangle Pennant atm.

Cool, thanks ... now I just need to find a moderator ... lol. I tend to be oblivious to such things. I don't get to hang out here, enough.

    On the forum homepage: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/
underneath the various forums are clickable lists for the mods.

Edit to add ... think the top one is for the front.
I'll go offline and prop it and then upload it at sharecg for you.

Maybe if you take a sphere, set it's Z scale to something like 1%, then map your picture onto that...

I thought about that, but I needed something that looked recognizable close up.

I thank all of ya'll for the provided links and props. I now have buttons :D

Now that I have the generous pennant, how do I create a map so I can texture it as I like with different sports teams? I am familiar with how to alter an existing one in PS, but have never had to make my own before, and a simple pattern or shader will not work.

Thought you may like to see what I am doing with the pennant, Patience, and the button I needed in another thread. It's just a character study, so no postwork has been done, but it gives you the idea. :D

The author has seen it and is thrilled ... which is always the plan ... lol.

My newest request is way out of my norm, and in a moment you'll understand. I've been commissioned to do a political satire book cover. I have most of the necessary elements, but I need a model of the White House and the Washington Monument.

I have access to an obelisk that can be made to resemble the Washington Monument, but I can't find a White House model.

Now for the odd part. I need a model of testicles. Yes, testicles. Does anybody know where I can look for any of this?
