I've avoided the DIM, too. There were a few things that I didn't like that I read in forums here. And the service going down...I foretold that issue. It's not mysticism to see that coming. On the other hand, the Product Library in your account seems to be pretty good. You can do a good search and download just what you need right away. And setting it to be in date order, oldest first, you can see all those really old things that you might still want but can't find on your system...or plain forgot that you ever had.

    Dana

Yeah, I don't know if I like the DIM thing or not....but I definitely don't like that they can't find my order!! I think I know what happened, though. Although it's just a guess. See, when I included the order number information, I just copied and pasted. That put the order number in this format:

    #0000000

OK...when you make a ticket for any reason and you type a number in that way (with the numbers beginning immediately after the # symbol) the ticket system automatically highlights and creates a link to another "ticket" order... not a purchase order...

so...if whoever it was that took my ticket tries to click on the link (that the ticket system automatically created) it links to nothing.... they come to a blank page.

BUT... the person taking the information should have a BRAIN and understand that I have no way possible to link to my product order account from within the ticket complaint system and should have looked me up and looked up my order with the ORDER number I gave.

    ...geesh!...

Sorry to puke all my frustration out on you guys! lol

No worries at all! This is a COMPLAINT thread, among other things! Complain away! (smiles)

....complaint: why does all the cool stuff have to always be for for apps like Vue or 3DS?

    http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/hawatha-train-1935-1951-bundle-for-vue-/97817/#

Really, really would love this for Poser/Daz. The detail is so perfect even including the famous "Beavertail" parlour car.

... *speculation* I wonder if that's released as a 'locked' or 'unlocked' Vue file... (most of the Cornucopia3D models are considerably cheaper in 'locked' form, but then can't be exported as .OBJ...).

I was a bit miffed that the "Velociraptor" model (Which was kinda handsome :3) couldn't be exported at all, since I'd have loved to retexture it, and especially use it alongside Cinema's nifty deformation tools... But apparently all of C3D's rigged stuff is locked by default and you can't export any of them :(

Which is a huge bummer ^^
For me anyway, since I can't model a sphere nor rig even a stick figure, and painting? Flat color only XD

Bit off-topic, but IPP can convert a poser figure's bones to Cinema's joints, but the weighting is utterly destroyed in the process. Given the high polygon count of most figures and my own lack of understanding of rigging/weighting... Yeah. I'd really like to use Cinema's IK and muscle system on the Digi_I Trex and stuff... Would make animating things easier too, but... Gah. Rigging DX

Sad about the state of train travel in the US.. I'd take trains before planes if the routes permitted. (frownie)

...I hear you. With my stiff joints and poor circulation getting crammed in that tiny seat for several hours (often times not even on a full sized jetliner but one of those "commuter jets") with someone literally sitting in your lap when they recline their seatback and being nickle and dimed for everything from luggage fees to the once complementary cup of coffee or soft drink (surprised they don't have pay loos yet) is not the way this Kid likes to travel.

When I want go back to Wisconsin, I get on the Empire Builder In Portland, and about two and a half days later I get off In Milwaukee well rested and fed (at my age, I always book a sleeper car) with no change, no long layover at some out of the way hub, and not having to go through "Checkpoint Charlie" each leg of the flight where some GS-1 flunky tries to touch me where only my doctor is permitted to.

The only really classy train left in North America is the Canadian which travels from Vancouver BC to Toronto Ontario. It still has the sleek classic look with the shiny silver rolling stock that includes several of the old Vista Dome cars which offer unparalleled viewing compared to Amtrak's Bi-level Superliners. I have to ride it someday.

A far, far more civilized means of travel than Air Cattle Express. I enjoyed my trip from Los Angeles to Austin via the Texas Eagle, if I go back to Cali I'll do the same thing again (and just take 2 weeks off, dang it).

They had the fancy observation cars on the Texas Eagle when I was riding it.. amazing views through the desert, poast the Great Salt Lake and the mountains. It couldn't get much better, sigh.

I wonder if Amtrak goes through any of the cool places in Utah?

*edit* The California Zephyr looks like the train to catch, goes through a ton of scenic places! But I'd have to get to Chicago somehow, or maybe Omaha.. hmmph.

I am trying to find as many free kindle books that I want as I can

Groovy!! Have fun! Nice to see you! *waves*

I use the Product Library exclusively.

Hi to you, too Sickle! *smile*

    Hiiiiiiiiiii *waves insanely*

I've been up and down, right now holing up in a little cave of my own to recover from idiocy and misfortune, and focus on my writing and artwork (mostly my writing).

Nice to see you around! (huge grin)

It's really good to see you too. Glad to hear that you're writing! I remember your poems!! Sorry to hear about the misfortune, but glad things have worked out OK. Really is good to see you *hugs*

    ...hanging in there.

Not sure if you had heard, but I'm out of work for the time being (company I worked for lost it's major client after over 30 years of business - long story). Looking daily, but not finding much for someone of my age and skill set. Finally got some feedback on a few applications but it's the usual line, "not quite what we are looking for, but will consider for future openings."

Other than that, taking advantage of the extra time to really sit down and learn all this 3D stuff (and enjoy some uncharacteristically nice weather for this time of year where I live).

Got the new workstation running and been busy working with ideas for scenes/characters I had to shelve because the old system just didn't have the horsepower to render them. Been playing with shaders and the new SSS feature in 4.6 (my, there are so many parameters). Got Blender 2.67 and Bryce 7, going, still need to install Carrara, PoserPro 2012 and the latest update to Marvelous Designer.

Took second place in the May Toon challenge over at the Fantasy Attic which netted me a couple nice GCs at Rendo and Xurge ("real armour" for "real warriors" , both fantasy & SF) as well as some individual content awards.

Currently weighing the decision of whether or not to cash in on the big Filter Forge sale (119$ for 3 Pro), being that my income is about two thirds of what it was (which even then wasn't much). However, as I am getting more and more into surfacing and texturing, it would be an excellent tool as it also works as a standalone.

Sorry to hear about the no work thing. I posted a notice about someone looking for graphic artists and web developers last week, I think it was. Don't know if you can do that or not... I could look up the link again if you want?

Having time to do stuff isn't so bad, though. *smiles* Glad your new system is working out, too! That is really good news! *smiles*
...and I still haven't really learned to use the filter forge I have! LOL I should do that! ...lol

Good luck with the ticket thing, Jasmine! I know it's not easy to deal with.

    Dana

    Thanks, Dana! *smiles*

And hi to you guys, too Rezca and MFM!!!

There! Did I miss anyone? lol I hope not!!

Well, I guess I really should get back to putting stuff in there... sigh... wish me luck!! It really is very good to see you all again!! {{{{BIG HUGS}}}} all around!

    ... laters! *smiles*

OK...this is the complaint thread and I want to complain!! UGH!

OK...so, to sum up: Approx 6 months ago some stuff happened that really hurt me and stressed me out and I took a break for awhile. Well, I got to missing everything and everyone so i decided I would go through some of my downloaded and yet uninstalled stuff and install it in my libraries. OK... this was kind of a disaster. Not only was stuff not working properly, but I was getting error messages and warnings during renders and stuff, plus I saw that DS had a new version (yet again) so I just said ... OK.. I give in, I'll do a complete fresh install of everything. Good time to check out how the DIM thing came along, right?

OK... First day.... just get started and the DIM goes down... for like 2 days.... sometimes I could log in...sometimes I could not. OK, I discover this is something that others are experiencing too, and realise that is just my bad luck and poor timing... I decided to not hate this process just yet... things got up and running and stayed going really well, until I noticed that I didn't have all of M4 stuff showing up in the DIM. Hmmm??? So I do a little investigating and discover that I got most of M4 (including morphs ++ and Hiro) from my purchase of the Daz book. That content came on disc. OK, so I send in a ticket and try to explain that this stuff from my book purchase wasn't showing up in my account. I bought the book from here, so i included the order # and the content I was missing..

I get a response today telling me they can't find that order....

    ???huh???

How is that possible? It's showing up in MY account on my end!!?!?!? WTF?!?!?!! I bought the thing from here. I included all the information I have... I'm sure it was just a typo on their part in the search or something....but how aggravating!! I included the order number information already...

... oh yeah.... the headaches.... now I remember....

yo Jaz, hope that works out for you :o)

Don't you believe it! I haven't let it make a My Library folder in My documents or wherever it tries. I install everything to the same Content/ folder that I always did. I did an entry for the March Freebie Challenge with three Genesis figures in it and they worked just fine. I even used the M4 UV maps on two of them.

I got a used car and I am going to keep it as long as I can. I have had it four or five years. I am hoping and praying it will last me several more years.

keep up the oil changes, tune ups. and have the belts changed every few years! -that belt snaps it can destroy your pistons. you'll know it snaps when you feel the car shudder, you hit the gas pedal and nothing happens.

Pity I don't have any of those :B
(Even if I did have DR's Eurohippus, I'd probably end up rendering it with Indigo instead XD)

In other news, I'm animating Digi-I's Tyrannosaurus :3
Learning a bit about keyframing and Cinema's Timeline viewer in the process. I don't think I'll be able to do walkcycles or anything in the forseeable future, but hey - toying around and tinkering at random is how I've always learned and progressed (For better or for worse *shrugs*)

Complaint: I can't see all of the animation timeline/editor window on my laptop. There isn't enough room on my screen. I have to hide a few toolbars everytime I want to scroll down to see the rest of the objects =/

Sorta hard to explain, but when there's so much stuff crammed into a small window... XD

...ahh, a video, unfortunately tonight that will not work (see complaint below).

However I remember several years ago they brought an exhibition to one of our department stores of some fantastic Lego works that included Buckingham Palace, The Parthenon, The White House, and Notre Dame Cathedral (Paris). And these constructs were big, one of them would take up a good part of my living room.

    OK complaint time now:

Found a USB extension and was able to place my Wireless modem in a better location to get a more steady signal. For the last three days it's been working pretty well. Still a bit slow at times but none of the instability and connection issues/errors I had been experiencing. Could even watch YouTube Vids without excruciating long waits for buffering or errors. So, since it appeared I found a solution, I went ahead and renewed my plan for another month today.

OK I get home, start my system up,and for the next hour and twenty minutes proceeded to struggle with the same old rubbish all over again. Gmail would not open emails leaving me with a "Loading/Still Trying" message or telling me I was disconnected when I wasn't. Pages took forever to load. Ended up doing multiple shut down/restarts of the modem app (as well as a full restart of my system) not only getting the three dirty words of net connectivity, ("Server Not Found") when FF opened up, but errors with the modem itself establishing a connection.

Needless to say I was furious as I just shelled out 50$ for another month of service only to have it go down the loo on me again. Almost came to the point of uninstalling the modem app and going down to the ISP's local office tomorrow to register a formal complaint about this mess and demand they give me something that works without charge (as I have been paying for monthly insurance on top of the connection fee which is supposed to cover such hardware failures).

Don't know how long I'll be on tonight before everything goes to Hades on me again. I hate such instability and uncertainty especially when I'm the one paying to deal with it.

KK, I'd do that even if you do stay connected tonight. And if they refuse, contact the FCC and the BBB. If you're paying for equipment insurance and they're not delivering on it, you have a legitimate grievance, one worthy of court even. I bet you're not the only one, either.

That's a lot of money to pay for crappy ISP service! I pay $45/month for my Comcast high speed Internet connection, with so much bandwidth that I don't think I'll ever go over it...and they aren't enforcing the 10 Gig limit anyway (I think that's the number, I just know I've never approached the limits anyway. I can't remember them ever actually enforcing it.

...well, just went to their site and got on the support chat to get a better description of the service.

Seems I can just get internet without all the other stuff and at a very good introductory price (29$ for the first 6 months which goes to the regular rate of 44$ after that), Have to add 7$/month for the modem but that still is less than what I am paying now (for the first 6 months and just 1$ more after that) for a 20mbps connection with 300GB month (DL/UL). Yeah I know speed will vary from what is advertised, but to have a stable connection so I can actually stream vids (great when I need to pull up a tutorial on something) and with a router (not very expensive) I can hook to both systems so I can DL app, plugin, & utility updates direct to the workstation.

Going to head over to the office tomorrow (short walk away) to check into this more. The good thing is my place already has a lead and junction box from when it previously had cable service so installation should be fairly quick and inexpensive.

HEADDESK!! You could of had cable at home for less the whole time and you've been arguing with wifi? If a tall very thin person with a silver medical cane ever happens to be at the door one day when you answer a polite knock. DUCK! One swing of the cane would be all I get before I hit the floor. I'll even lay there all peaceful until they come haul me away.
