trying to stay awake and organize my content
eyelids are crashing. 4am, eyelids supposed to be crashing.
It's STILL hotter and drier outside, even after a year of being basically kept indoors?
watching Clouseau trying to cross a moat.
it doesnt show if he ever made it?
no complaints while i was sleeping. did the internet go on without me?
spring is here again 63F
...oddly yes.
We actually had what was more of a "normal" winter for here after the last several ones which were relatively mild and dry It was not so much downpours as ti was just constant light rain (and for a couple weeks in February, "real winter" conditions) combined with unseasonably cold temperatures and wind that made it totally miserable to be outside for any length of time.
...summer her again today 83°F after a high of 85°F Yesterday, Then back into the 70s until next Saturday when the wet returns but at least seasonable temps this time, 60s instead of the 40s (the one good part, it should put an end to the fire alerts).
Non-Complaint: While bemoaning the fact that I can't spend my stimulus money on a graphics card I sat here looking at my system and realized that I have yet one more 12 year old HP computer (named "Atlas") that could benefit greatly from a major upgrade. It's already had it's spinning hard drive replaced with an SSD, but the motherboard and CPU are really poor performers. So I started thinking, what if I replaced the motherboard and CPU and gave it some zippy RAM too? A quick look at current prices yielded approximately $90 for an Asus Prime H410M-E microATX motherboard. $90 for an Intel Pentium "Gold" 6400 CPU (2 core, 4.0GHz). And $90 for 16GB of Corsair Vengeance 2666 RAM. Admitedly I might lose the Win10 Home OS that is currently on that machine, but if I did, it's no biggie because I just happen to have an unopened OEM copy in my spare parts box. Wheee... I knew that erroneous order could come in handy some day. And as a side benefit, the ASUS motherboard has an M.2 slot (although it's SATA not NVMe). Regardless... My cabin fever now has an outlet and I can continue planning how to throw my money away creatively. I may not actually go through with this, heaven knows I have enough modern and a couple somewhat upgraded machines already, but the planning is half the fun and it's free. Wheee...
...thank you, for reminding me as I need to get on the ball and order the 2 TB SSD. Yeah, M.2s are fast, but my MB only has PCIe 2.0 so I won't be able to get the full speed advantage to make the extra cost worth it over a SATA drive.. The only advantage would be not having to get an adapter that works with my case's drive bays. As it would only be a data/storage drive (for my Daz library) I'd be OK in that respect as the BIOS will not recognise as a boot drive.
Looking at the Intel M.2M as long as I just used it for my content library (which is relatively static and I'll primarily be reading from) it should not wear out for a while. I would have to switch my scene library (which gets far more read/write operations as I frequently do intermittent saves) to another drive. That could be another small SATA SSD (say a 240 GB) as I feel the bottleneck in loading scenes is the mechanical aspect of the HDD they are currently on. The trick would be to get the programme to see the folder on another drive as it usually is under the Daz programme main folder. Wondering fo that can be done in the prefernces.
One of the cats tore down half my twinkle lights and part of the tapestry behind my desk last night.
Cats are good at that. It was just light work for him.
Non-complaint: While DAZing this afternoon I had the radio on and they played a piece I'd never heard of before. Kind'a catchy in places. The composer (Josef Suk) was a pupil of Antonin Dvorak (of "From the New World" symphony fame) and later married Dvorak's daughter.
The short theme that I like of this 15 minute piece is first stated at around 0:50 through 1:20 and appears several more times throughout the piece and comes to fruition at 11:06 and again at 13:18. The general feeling of the piece is very spring-like, light, happy, of nature. There are places where it gets emotional and grand and places where it is very playful.
Josef Suk: Fantastic Scherzo
Complaint: Another 3D great has passed...Lyne of Lyne's Creations.

That is really sad news. I have a number of her free animals. Altough they fairly old, they are still excellent.
Prehaps her passing deserves a post of its own in Commons.
playing with my new riverboat. non complaint. came into carrara no fuss.
Remember the river of time novels.
been 40 odd years, cant remember the author.
i miss reading my books. i didnt throw out all of them. hurts too much.
never imagined i wouldnt be reading after i retire.
having a hard time with the attack V. its not coming into carrara easy. chunks of geometry missing.
gonna have to scale back my animation expectations of it. i can be happy with it if the blades spin. who needs landing gears.
at least hamsters are safe from it.
...love the music you present here.
Are you sure you're not thinking about the Riverworld series by Phillip Jose' Farmer (To Your Scattered Bodies Go, The Fabulous Riverboat, etc)? It was about a world where everyone who had ever lived on Earth existed on the banks of an endless river. SyFy did a two episode mini-series based on them a few years ago with an eye to making a regular series, but never did. It didn't exactly follow the novels, but was still relatively enjoyable.
Thank you. It's my pleasure. The little blurbs that I write about them help me crystalize my thoughts and memories of the pieces. Whether anybody else listens to them or not. But it's nice to know the effort isn't wasted.
The more I listen to this particular piece, the more I get the image of a musical conversation between a rambunctious child and a sedate loving mother who eventually gets caught up in the child's exuberance as the two principle themes merge at the end.
thanks.
i think it was Riverworld. cant remember what time novel i was thinking of. gordon r dickson sound familiar
i'm carraraing, listening to star blazers space battkesguo Yamato 2199 in background. careful, the tune sticks in head

Decided what i need to feel better is a daz sale shopping spree.
gc sale is still working, took some of that new computer money bought myself a 200gc for 170
now i just need to find stuff i want to render.
feeling ill last few days. ugh i forget sugar can go low. sometimes need to actually eat sugar to feel better, lol.
I can't think of any series Gordon R. Dickson wrote that dealt with time, unless you count The Childe Cycle series, a set of loosely connected series and novels that would have told the story of mankind's growth as a species from prehistoric times to the far future had he managed to finish them before his death. Unfortunately, what comes to mind when I think of Gordo's work are the Dorsai novels (which were a part of The Childe Cycle) and The Dragon and the George novels (a wonderful take on the Saint George and the Dragon legend).
wracking my brain. he had 2 girl friends. one had trained dogs. he moved his village thru time with his mind. he evolved mind powers. prolly tripping on acid when writing it
You should change your password right away! And don't use something simple that's easy to hack.

Today is so warm out! It makes for great spring cleaning. Beyond that, we have someone coming to look at the kitchen light soon, and nothing motivates me to clean more than a scheduled visit. Now I just have to donate all these pants...
Late last year we got a grocery delivery that included two bags from different stores. They were filled with Calvin Klein pants (with the tags still on!) and ramen noodles. I guess the delivery person got them mixed up with our stuff and we had no way to return them to him. I kept the bags in a corner for a while, in case they came back and asked for it. But it's been so long now, I really need to just take them to goodwill.
@Miss Bad Wolfie Definitely change your password right away! And try to make it a long one. You can just use a series of words that don't seem to go together, like MomsRogueSeaNightAlert.
@LeatherGryphon I wish I had some kind of speaker system for the house. This would be great music to play while cleaning.
