...revisiting an old scene in Iray that I created over 7 years ago. As the original source file was lost due to an HD crash in 2009, I had to reconstruct it the best I could

Used as much of the original content I could save for Leela (the Belle 6 version), and a couple props that are no longer available.

Will probably be MIA for a while as I will most likely lose Net access in a couple hours since I am unable to pay my ISP bill and they will not extend the deadline any further. At least want to leave on a good note.

    A Captive Audience Redux

That is a great render, hope you get yourself back up and running again soon.

    CHEERS!

..thank you. Took a while having to hunt down a lot of props as many were freebies that were still in my archives. Wanted to get as close to the original as I could.

Here is the original scene from 7 years ago. Back then only had V4, and 3DUs Teen Ashley to work with.

That's a hell of a scene for 7 years ago. I'm not sure if I've kept anything I had 7 years ago.

...Yeah Predatron's Trash Stash was a wonderful resource for "littering" a scene. Freebies helped a lot too (like the soda can ,squirt gun, limo, etc. The original scene was lit with LDP1. and took a heck of a long time to render (something like 44 lights).

Ironically, I was in the process of backing files up to DVD just before the HDD crash. Managed to back up all my installers, including every version of Daz Studio I had at the time (back to ver1.8), rendered images, and most of my freebies (though later when I was reinstalling to the new drive, I discovered a lot of the.zips were corrupted), and was going to backup the scene and other the next day. That morning when I turned on the system it wouldn't get past the "welcome" screen and just hung. Turned out to be a bad boot sector on the drive..

That doesn't sound good! I've just replaced my PSU as the old one kept restarting the PC due to power surges. The new one is by Fractal Design, it's based on a Seasonic and I think it really has improved the performance. Until Kettu gets round to including G3F/V7 in her RTK shader set (she has done tests but not uploaded any files) I decided to see what I could do with G3F and UberSurface 2. She does look rather different to how she looked with the AoA shader, I can't decide yet whether she looks better per se. I'm hoping someone comes up with a new 3Delight shader for G3 as it really is crying out for one as AoA's is getting long in the tooth now.

PS (Has anyone else noticed that, just like V4 did, G3F loads by default as a little cross-eyed!? G2F didn't.)

Even as a base figure, you can see her potential. She moves nicely too. I just want to feel like I'm always moving forwards now and I don't feel like 3Delight users are being given that opportunity yet. It still has its place and I hope the PA's remember that.

..won't even consider using her until Zev0 releases an updated Growing Up Morphs

(and I can scrape up the 30$ for the 3 basic morph sets, bugger they separated the expressions from the facial morphs)

Great, yes, but not amazing. Once Kettu gets her G3F MAT for RadiumSolidVaris up then I'll really have something to show you. Someone in the V7 thread has used Olympia 6 eyes on her, if this can be done then Actual Eyes 4 could work too, something I shall try and find out.

AE4 does work with G3F after a fashion. Its shaders don't recognise the Eye Moisture as Eye Reflection and it won't apply the AE4 shader to it no matter what you try. If you dial back the opacity to 0 they still look good and the reflections still work, though I'm not sure how. AE4 has what it calls 'dynamic reflection' and all I know is that it works as they change direction when G3F does as can be seen below.

I think they will do till AE5 comes out, which it should.... hopefully...

...admittedly. not a very compelling scene compared to my usual output . However there is something significant about it as it combines a Skies of Economy HDRI map with the Iray Sun.

...thank you. Been disappointed with a lot of the free HDRIs as hey eith do not have a sun or if they do it either isn't strong enough or the shadows are too diffuse.

So sat down to figure out an alternative as normal skydomes block out the Iray sun.

Simple solution, make a large sphere, put a hole in it with the Geometry Editor tool for the sun Iray sun to shine through, make the sphere an emissive object and apply an HDRI map (.exr) to it to create a "skydome". In a sense it's an Iray version of the old LDP (with a lot less lights). The only small caveat is you cannot have the sun in eh camera's view plane or the opening in the sphere will be visible. But hey, it works for the most part.

Have a more detailed description of the process here:

I made G3F smile and I don't have her expression pack yet. The recipe is here:

    Cheek Eye Flex: 12.9%
    Cheek Flex: 30.1%
    Cheeks Dimple Crease HD: 14%

    Mouth Corner Back: 53.4%
    Mouth Corner Up Down: 50.9%
    Mouth Narrow: -37.4%
    Mouth Smile: 53.4%

    Lips Part: 54.6%

    Nostrils Flare: 37.8%

    The result is below:

    Thanks for the recipe, too.

Messing around with faces used to be my speciality and one I aim to get right back to with G3.

Giant...mmmh, I think we already have an expert on Giant female renders. Bobvan...right?

Look my first low budget Victoria7!!, I'm still poor after the GTX 780 Ti purchase, no Pro Bundle for now... :shut:

    She looks good.

Regarding giants I was thinking a different style of giant, like for toons. A cute anime giant! not a scary one.

So who exactly keeps lighting candles in random dungeons?

    *chuckles.*

    Very nice!

Which figures did you put that armour on? I keep thinking about putting it on M6, but I know autofit will just mess it all up and turn it into cloth. They need to make it recognise hard objects.

All the armors are parented to the M3 Bodysuit.
I tried autofit on Midori (Genesis 1), but only the M3 BodySuit was perfect, the armors were badly parented and thus, removed.

    Interesting,

On another note, doesn't it just kill when everything you want, and everything you just recently bought for more, is in a sale you can't afford to take advantage of!?

It's happening to me right now!

Still a WIP, because a ton of iterations is needed.
if you ask for the bedroom scene, is a Sketchup file converted to OBJ via Keyshot, and donated for free to the Sketchup Community I belong too.
