Well, to be fair, these do work straight out of the box. When that guy did his promo of Gia she was straight out of the box and, with his lights, I was able to get her looking like he did. If you want that little bit extra, like you and I do, then the option is there. I don't think there will be much active encouragement of 3Delight tweaking among PA's now. How many characters with 3Delight promos have you seen recently!? Also, look at Dreamlight, he dropped 3Delight like a hot potato when Iray came out. Iray is Daz's cash cow now, or so they hope, why else do you think there are so many flash sales of 3Delight products!?
CHEERS!
Well 3Delight is not dead for me. I will continue to convert new materials into the basic DAZ shaders of old, as I don't have the patience for shaders that have a million options to tweak.
Good to hear, and those are some great looking renders,
I too will use 3Delight for as long as I'm able. I too want to get the best out of what's there. For me that's the AoA shader, the main figures use it, so I will.
CHEERS!
Thanks! I'm not a huge AoA shader fan, but I'll use it on occasion if I want a translucent toonish skin effect. I know most folks use it to create more realism, I use it for the opposite effect.
Me being a Super Hero, sometimes mistaken like Nightwing... :shut:

Great skintone there.
CHEERS!
Nice, though I'd adjust the propagating scale on the head, just a tad.
CHEERS!
Great looking renders, alken.
What are the characters and light setup, you have used in your renders?
Thank you Artini. The figure/skin texture is G3F/V7.
Lights:
UberEnvironment Intensity 40%-60%; Intensity Scale 100%-235%; Shadows set to 41/38/37.
Distant Main light Intesity 70% with shadows set to 41/38/37
Distant Rim light Color set to 189/230/255 with Intensity at 100%
Distant bottom Fill light with Illumination On and Shadows turned off, Intesity 15%
I also make slight changes to the contrast via the Render settings:
Gamma .96
Gain 1.05
Interesting you set the gamma so low, the recommended setting is 2.20. I've never got on well with gamma set to anything else. What are the translation settings of the lights?
CHEERS!
I decided to have a crack at Raiya's Male Model texture. Initially I wasn't sure about the skin, but, when I put him in a scene it all came together. I'm holding off writing MAT's till I get Khory's tutorial and see what more there is I can do.
So far so good though...
CHEERS!
To start off with, I was never that fond of Nevio. At the time I couldn't get his skin right or light him. Now though, I think I'm getting the hang of both and I really like him now.
CHEERS!
Thanks for the settings, alken.
I will try them myself.
Those Nevio renders are looking very good, Rogerbee.
Thanks,
I'm sure many more are capable of being turned around, it's just a case of knowing how. I'm sure Khory will offer some insights.
CHEERS!
I have experimented with some parts of alken set up, to adjust different lights sets, that I have.
Below is a render using http://www.daz3d.com/fashion-lights
but with Gamma .96 and Gain 1.05. I have also adjusted values of UE2.
That looks completely wrong with the gamma set that low. Why it was set that low is still a mystery, I've never seen it written anywhere that a value like that was appropriate.
CHEERS!
Still lux rendering.
I realize most of you are doing portraits, I like them too. But I used alken's 'settings' on this one in 3delight (I'm playing with iray too--back and forth. Nice to have choices isn't it)
e-arkham's Hagswood is beautiful! I would have shown more of it in the render but Mavka is so small she almost completely disappeared when I tried.
Mamma mia!
They changed the forums! Looks swanky. What does anyone else think!? I'm sure we'll all get used to them in time. Well, I've bought Khory's tutorial, and I'm impressed, there are definitely some useful tips in there and I will definitely put some of them into practice. I also have the Advanced Distant Light now too so daylight renders will look better. Will I finally be producing renders to be proud of, here's hoping....
CHEERS!
PS (I think you might need to put a new link for this in Favourites as the one I had on my Favourites bar in Waterfox didn't work.)
PPS (You still have to use crtl click to open links in a new tab!)
Another experiment with 3Delight.
This time: http://www.daz3d.com/sheppard-for-m6
with lights from http://www.daz3d.com/luminance-hdris-for-daz-studio and Fashion lights
Gamma 1.8
Not bad, but the gamma should always be 2.20, it's what monitors reognise and it's always looked right since I've been using it.
CHEERS!
Another try, with eyes from http://www.daz3d.com/atticus-for-gianni-6
I like this look even better.
It is better, but it will look a lot better with gamma at 2.20.
CHEERS!
Regarding gamma value, I also thought, that it always should be 2.2.
In iRay gamma 2.2 looks ok, but with 3Delight I always got washed up textures look, which I do not like.
To me that has always depended greatly on the lighting.
CHEERS!
I have made another render with gamma set to 2.2,
but I like better my previous one.
I like that one better actually. The Male Model skin needs work, he's on my to do list. I've studied Khory's tutorial now, and I really liked what I found. The settings all work really well. I've tested Bjorn and Darius so far. The lights are AoA Ambient and Distant set up according to the settings in the readme.
CHEERS!
Here's what the Male Model looks like with Khory's settings.
CHEERS!
I like Darius Old Khory Skin best.
Cheers.
