    Well, I'm rendering again,

During my brief foray into Linux (Don't ask!), I managed to wipe my original Daz folder, content, custom textures and MATs the whole nine yards! I've rebuilt the content library and my custom textures and appear to have replaced everything I need to make my Iray test scenes work again. Please don't scream, but, you are about to see Boris again. I had to test out all the new textures that I had to recreate from scratch and it all looks ok to me:

If ever you're thinking of using DS in Linux.... I will happily shoot you! Just don't do it, EVER! It won't work and you could lose stuff you don't want to lose.

Here is Bjorn after rebuilding everything, looks ok to me:

There may have been other things I did to the textures before, but I'm beggared if I can remember what they were!

Rebuilt Darius and he seems to look as I remembered him:

I think that's me back to where I was pre Linux. PHEW!

Forgot to check the Unshaven character I was working on:

On looking at that I think I need to re-scale the normal maps as they look a little harsh there.

Great, Rogerbee. Seems to me, you are having fun with creating these renders.

    Thanks,

I think rebuilding them gives me a chance to get them right.

....looks like you recovered everything pretty well.

    Really like the Unshaven one.

Yeah, remembering what to do when I'd wiped all the recipes I'd collected wasn't easy either. I'll have to revisit the forums and get them all back.

    Looking good,

These M7 skins are really good now. Looks like the new texture system was the way to go.

Thanks, Rogerbee. I really like these iray light package.

The second one just appeared in the store, but I think, the first one cover the most lighting conditions, I need.

I'm not that fond of studio type lighting now, it tends to make things look less realistic. Sun/Sky is what gives me what I want.

One of my first iray renders in Daz Studio 4.9.

Finally Daz Studio does not crash, when exiting from it.

    Looks good,

I'm busy with other things now and do NOT like the look of DS 4.9 one bit. If I continue with Daz again this year it will be with 4.8.

    Thanks, Rogerbee.

I also keep 4.8, but installed DS 4.9 beta, to see if it will also crash on exit, like 4.8 does.

Luckily 4.9 beta does not crash, so long, on my computer, so I will give it a try.

I hope this counts. I've been teaching myself Blender, and modeled all the items in this scene. Turns out Blender isn't as intimidating as I thought.

I have had that happen with 4.8 on occasion. People are so hung up on Connect and Smart Content that I don't know how well 4.9 functions without them. My interest in Daz is fast waning and it's their fault for not knowing when they have something good and insisting on meddling and adding stuff they just don't need. My interest in garage kits is growing back and it's overtaking 3D art more and more as it's more tangible, this may well be where my future lies.

Thanks. It was both GPU GTX 670 and CPU.

Garage kits are good to have, Rogerbee, if one have a place for them.

I try to limit myself on purchasing real things, because of limited space in my apartment

and so many different hobbies, I have in the past. That is why, I am purchasing mostly digital content nowadays.

There's the rub, I don't have much space! The display space is also my current work space. I'll think of something when the time comes...

Thanks. :) It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.
