In another break from the Helghast, I resurrected (although I guess they already are) my M6 Zombie. I made him HD and brought the textures into line with others I've worked on.

He was a lot of fun!

    Thanks,

I knocked the diffuse back to 50% and now I think they look just right.

I worked on these over a year ago. I wanted them to look somewhat used armor. The suit underneath came out great in that regard. I also played with the visors and got a great look, I think.

Here's something I am researching at the moment. I am working on the idea of a creating a sci-fi story online using images and text.

Here's a profile test render for one of the characters. I rendered it with iRay.

I suspect the Iray skin shader needs some tweaking, not that I'd know how. There's probably a tutorial much like Khory's around somewhere.

Nice, troopers with that helmet are on my 'to do' list. I swapped out the shader on the glass for a caustic glass one from Shader Mixer. I have yet to finesse the armour.

Quite nice, I'm sure it would take me a good deal more than 10 mins to do likewise in Iray.

While it looks good, one would be hard pushed to tell it from a 3Delight render. Even some of the Daz promos have that problem. I'm sure though that it can be capable of doing stuff that looks amazing and that couldn't have been done in 3Delight, I just don't see it all that much.

I wasn't looking for photoreal. By using iRay I don't have to waste time on lighting. Also, the eyes were so much easier as well as the skin.

I see, I'm loath to try it due to the load it would put on my CPU.

...as long as you have decent cooling for you should be OK..  I have a first generation i7 and it seems to do fine (provided where I am we aren't in the midst of a 90° - 100° heat wave - though looks like by Wednesday we'll be roasting again for at least a week). .  I have noticed that both Luxrender and Iray do run cooler than 3DL with UE.

Do you have an aftermarket CPU cooler or just the one that came with your CPU?

  • RogerbeeRogerbee Posts: 4,460

I have 7 fans cooling everywhere in my PC, it keeps it at a nice even temperature. Maybe, just maybe, if I have a scene that I think might warrant it, I'll give it a shot, we'll see.

...sounds pretty much like my system.  More "windmills" than a B-36 Bomber (it only had 6 - though it did also have 4 jet pods).

Well off to bed, been staying up too late the last few nights working on scenes and rendering.  Had a bit of cooler weather set in for several days so the core temps have been more reasonable.

    Good morning there...good night here.

...oh wait, got another "Realistic...Not" scene to post before I go (been a while since I added something here)

One more little thing I like about the new forums is It's easier to cross-post images.

Saturday was Lelea's birthday in the story  (25.07.2042) so reworked a pic for the occasion.

    "Time for Beeeeg BADABOOOM!!!!!!!"

...not to worry she isn't going to blow anything up, the exploder is actually the master switch to set off a surprise programmed fireworks display set up on and around the building.

When I saw the flash sale in the shop today, I put together a hypothetical cart to see what I'd save. I saved so much that I bought the items I put in anyay. They were the Mean Streets outfit, Xavior Hair and Flat-top Hair, all of which I liked. It all came to just under £4, nice. Here's Bjorn wearing the outfit and Flat-top Hair.

You should try it. There is also an "interactive" mode that some say is like biased rendering and gives you control of shadows, etc. The default is the photoreal mode that most of us use.

kyoto kid, that's a cute image. "Girls just wanna have fun." laugh
