Interstting I dont get that on the laptop or tower. I am not spending a crazy amount either if I do. Still thinking about it. I can get the 970 for $400.00 range or 980 for 6. I get fast results with the 980m in the laptop. (BTW that's a 24G Asus gaming laptop that cost as much as "the beast") I think I will decide one I see what the new lux can do on the beast with the current AMD fire pro.
Yeah, it's a little humbling realizing that the spiffy new machine I might be able to get in a few months will still not hold a candle to what a bunch of other people have. Oh well. ;)
That laptop must have some serious cooling. I wouldn't even attempt an HD render on mine. Cooling was the main reason I went with a tower, though I was fooling myself thinking that just the one fan would be enough. Mind you, even with 7 it still isn't quite enough on a hot day to stop the CPU screaming, another reason to get a GPU to take that load.
CHEERS!
Yeah, not only is she good at what she does, she must be successful too.
CHEERS!
I did not cheap out on the laptop and did add the warranty plan just in case...
How is it for bloatware!? Mine was full of it and I couldn't wait for the warranty to run out so I could ditch the lot. It turned out to be a store demo one and the warranty ran out about 3 months after I bought it. I was a bit put out to start with that my laptop was already a year old, but, I freed up a load of space and memory when I ditched the bloatware. That was why I was glad I built my own PC so I could control what went on it.
CHEERS!
Meh it was not too bad boots up much faster then the beast. Newer machine & all...
Oh Bo-ob,
Prepare to do a happy dance:
http://www.daz3d.com/reality-4-daz-studio-edition
It's in and has Lux 1.5!
CHEERS!
Just downloaded mine, it has a 7Zip icon, but is an EXE file. I ran it, it did soemthing, but that's it. No idea what it installed (if anything) or where Luxrender is, and no difference inside DAZ Studio that i can see. It is the weirdest installer that I have ever seen.
You need to download Luxrender itself or Reality will not work. You can get it here: http://www.luxrender.net/en_GB/standalone
Install Luxrender, then Reality.
CHEERS!
Not this time, Luxrender is included with the install of Reality, and I already had Reality v4.0 working with DS. I just have no idea what the so called installer did, I still have the older Reality 4.0 installed where it should be from last February, but i don;t know what happened with the new version (4.1)
Oh, well, I don't know what happened there then. Try unistalling the previous Reality and try again.
CHEERS!
I'll just leave it till I see what is supposed to happen.
I can't even get onto the Reality site, it seems to be down atm.
According to Paolo, LuxRender 1.5 is included with Reality 4.1.
He recommends to watch the:
Watched it moare than a week ago, but it doesn't say anything about installing. I know that the Luxrender install is now part ot the Reality download, but what I got was a file (169 MB) with a 7Zip icon, but it is an EXE file. When I run it, it seems to unzip something, but it only takes a second, and then nothing else happens. It cannot have installed Luxrender in that time, and none of my Reality files have been added to, or overwritten. The installer doesn;t seem to work at all.
What happens when you click on Reality render in Daz Studio?
Have you used Reality 4 with your Daz Studio installation before?
Sorted part of it out at least. The EXE just runs 7Zip, and creates a new folder in my Downloads folder, which is why I didn;t see it. The 'Installer' does not install anything, it just unzips the file and creates a new folder.
Was able to then run the actual installer from inside the new folder, but I get the error No lIght Sources when using Reality lights, and 'nothing to render' when I use a distant light.
I will have to read the large manual first I suppose.
Solved another part of the mystery. My LXS file is 80 Bytes long and contains the following:
So, Luxrender is right, there is not much to render after all
Hopefully this glitch will be ironed out soon.
No you dont need lux roger its now included
Have you got it then!?
CHEERS!
New and older mechs. Just the 3Delight render.
Rendering Time: 5 minutes
romofrog at RDNA forums has already posted Reality 4.1 render of Victoria 7. He wrote:
... My First test of Victoria7 with Reality4.1. Two mesh lights and an IBL. This took 36 mins to get to 1K S/p...
Nice! Very nice!
CHEERS!
Nice Artini no the d/l link is down. I also have nice stuff with iray *nudity* Love thems fast render times http://fav.me/d9a8b0g
Oh, pity!
CHEERS!
Bah no worries it just started
Thanks, Rogerbee and Bobvan.
My first test with Reality 4.1 - cpu only.
Rendering time 10 minutes
8 threads 281.03 S/p 471.7 kS/s
I like the speed of rendering. When using "extra boost" in the settings, it is much slower.
Just like before seems like basic cpu is the only one that works well. Those of us who purchased it from Pret a 3d are being penalized and have to wait... Im glad we have iray now..
I've been enjoying the heck out of Filter Forge stuff, although my sort of fear of 'great, I spent 3 months working on this post style and now it's outmoded by a simple click' wasn't realized, since none of the filters really suit what I want for my comic.
But man, as individual artworks, I'm digging the heck out of it.
My favorite three filters, and favorite attempt using each:

http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/CargoHauler-Edge2-561605113 (Edge filter, this really grabbed me as something that would look good for a comic, except I discovered most of my 'not a spaceship' renders didn't look so hot in it)
