Non-complaint:  My SS deposit has arrived.  Wheee, I was rich for a moment, then I paid my bills.  Result?  I might survive my overspending this last month.  (wheee...)indecision  It's a good thing I didn't spring for the RTX-3080 and decided on the RTX-3060 instead.

It's also a good thing too, because there's more overspending coming up soon.frown  I've recently lost over 60 pounds and I'm a shadow of my former self.  Unfortunately, having spent the last 10 years as a chunky monkey, my mattress felt the pressure.  I broke its resolve (and springs) and it became depressed in all the right places to accommodate my shape.  I'm not that shape anymore, and I feel like I'm sleeping in a foxhole.  This doesn't help my back issues any.  It's a "twin" sized bed so there's not enough undepressed areas to move to.  Conclusion?  I need a new mattress ($$$)sad  or a new bed($$$$). crying  And I need lots of new, smaller clothes too.

I was able to pay off about 70% of this month's credit bills, and the remainder isn't due until at least the middle of next month.  And I have enough left over to get me through 'till my next SS deposit.  At which time I can pay off the rest.  I hate paying credit card interest, and try to pay everything off in 30 days,   I'm not too worried about being a bit behind.  I've spent a small fortune recently on storable food stuffs, but that's all done now and I'm totally set for winter already.  Getting that RTX-3060 graphics card was a bit over the top, but it scratched an itch, and I'm not worried because I won't have major grocery bills for at least 8 months.yes

[uncloak] It's getting to the point where a person (or me) can't lurk in here anymore. Where's the chatter? [cloak]

Maybe it's too hot for everyone.  It got to 94 here today...and 87 inside...central air conditioning is dead.

There are campaign signs in a nearby town for someone named Bronoske. I don't know where that name comes from, but I can't help but read it as the title of a shonen manga.

I hope you can get your AC fixed soon

Complaint: I had new  heat pump system installed for about $7k about 3 months ago.  I couldn't really afford it but the old one died and would have been too expensive to repair. So, I had to do something. Yesterday It got to 90 here and the inside temperature got up to 81

Non-complaint: The AC service tech came and today the inside temperature stayed at the set 76 even though the outside temperature was once again 90

Ordered a new window unit...can't afford to replace the central air system. New one will be in on Monday, at least that's the current plan.  I hope it's correct.  In the meantime, it will be about the same on Friday (tomorrow will be slightly cooler, by a couple degrees, with threats of thunderstorms), but Saturday will be even hotter than today.  And it's only July!  August is usually the worst!  The new unit will cover the two largest rooms on the main level.  I have a small one in my office, so no danger of blue smoke from my computer!

    Thank you for your thoughtfulness!

...92² here today after 91° yesterday ("real feel" was something like 97°).  Now the next heat wave is supposed to start a day earlier on Sunday and last into the beginning of next month.  So far the window and ceiling fan combination has been doing OK for me as I am on the shady side of the building during the hottest time of day.

Sipping on a nice tall drink I made.

    ...non complaint.

Once in a while, a Daz sale works out for the better.

Picked up both Dogz's Tube Train and Tube Station in the Bridge Compatible Items sale.   The base discount was 50% (62% for Daz+ members) Plus my 8% Stack-Up savings and I was able to use my PA coupon to knock another 6$ off the price down to 18.44$ (regular price for these two items together is about 70$)   Finally a proper Underground for the London settings.

No need to buy any other items or bundles for the extra discount as has been the case the last several days.  Actually sort of like these Stack-Up promotions as I can build the discount buying anything, even a 2.99$ clearance item, and then use it on something I've been wanting to get. as it is a straight discount on the entire cart, no "Daz Math" involved.

Feels like the old days with everythign stacking together nicely.

    To quote LG  "Wheeeee!"

Complaint:  Crap!  MIssed it!  The biggest excitement in this town's history and I missed it.sad  Bigger even than the two cars & a telephone pole meeting in front of my house last week.frown

This small town (founded in 1805) of 500 people (7 blocks on the north of the creek, 5 blocks on the south) is full of houses that are at least 100 years old.  Many older than that.  Some 200+.  Beautiful wooden houses made when wood was really wood (hardwoods like oak, and ancient slow-growth hard-pine*, not the trashwood soft pine you get today).  Yeah, some of the old houses are a little long in the tooth and need some refurbishment, but still solid, never to be built again, examples of 19th century American craftsmanship.  Especially the big house on the corner of 2nd St. and Dailey Hill Rd.

Yesterday, I heard the fire siren blow, then shortly followed up with a parade of fire and police vehicles zooming down past my house headed somewhere.  All afternoon the sirens would blow again and official vehicles would zoom one way or another by my house.  Figured it was big, but didn't know until this morning that two of the oldest fanciest houses in the center of town, (catty corner from the fire departmentblush), burned to the ground!  All this happening just two-and-a-half blocks from me but the wind was blowing north and keeping the smoke out of my line of sight.  Guess I'll have to take a toddle up to the grocery store to see the disaster.  Arson is suspected.

*Note:  This area used to be covered with virgin, old growth, pines and a logging business sprung up here, and the town's first name was "Kennedy Mills".  All gone now except for two ancient old slow-growth, hard-pine trees still in town, monsterously tall, straight as an arrow, hundreds of years old, and still healthy.

...sad and maddening if it is arson  Never understood what people get out of random wanton destruction .

Here it's usually our bus and tram shelters where at least one of the glass panels is shattered (the tram shelters have etched glass panels depicting something historic about the area they are in).  When the local anarchists take to the streets dumpsters are set on fire, cars are damaged, and windows of businesses broken.

So that's the printer put together. I haven't had the chance to print anything as I got confused about the location of the volt switch - Which I had to watch a Youtube video to find.

I wouldn't mind, but the people on Youtube tell you that, "this part will fail", "you'll have to replace this bit!", "DON'T TOUCH THAT!", "tighten this!", "upgrade that!"... etc.

I felt like I had to handle the printer like it was an unexploded bomb!

I'm going back to it tomorrow. Right now, I feel drained (and somewhat stupid). On the plus side, I've ordered new springs for the printing bed.

If they get away with it, sometimes it is a big insurance payment, especially for a failing business that couldn't be sold.

..yeah, but only if it is not discovered to be insurance fraud. More often than not cases like that end up going the wrong way for those who planned them.

And sometimes it's a janky tenant, who after getting evicted, takes revenge.  Like after listening to more town gossip, is what is apparently the case in the fire I described above.indecision   I went by the site this afternoon.  The corner that used to look so posh, mid to late 1800s, is now a pile of black lumber, embers, ash and metal debris, as is the house next to it.  And it also damaged the oldest house in town across the street.  So few parts of the town still holding on to the quaintness we once had.sad

lol - It's had a good slumber after being removed from the box... Which was three days ago. I (still) haven't started using it yet.

On the up-side I've just configured Ultimaker Cura.

Oh well. Another night where I'm not going to be able to work on any projects. :/

  • Complaint: I keep forgetting how much I dislike the middle of summer. What fun is it to have sunny days when said days come with extremely high temperatures? Boooo...

Non-complaint: Today is the final day of my latest Covid-related quarantine, thankfully no sickness this time around!

  • Sfariah DSfariah D Posts: 26,258

I made pancakes!  I had two for breakfast and will have 2 for lunch!

complaint: I didn't want to wake up this morning.  Actually I thought it was Monday and I had to rush to get ready for my doctor appointment.  Then I realized yesterday was Saturday.

non complaint: it is Sunday so no need to rush for Monday's appointment.

A question to ponder; why do I tell myself to be compliant, but noncompliance is what tends to happen?
