gonna try to recover some files from my bad hard drive.  I need a new hard drive to save the recovered files onto though.

Good luck with that when you get the new hard drive.

Riding the Port Jefferson Ferry yesterday evening, barely outrunning a storm in Connecticut... crazy headwinds probably 30+ mph...

    Nice sunset...

...yeah...I know, Sun setting earlier and earlier, now under 12 hours of daylight.  In a month the clocks turn back and soon the sun will be setting before 17:00 local time.

I hate winter. Wish we evolved from, bears so we could hibernate until spring.

    Kindered spirit smiley

Can't stand the winter either and have often wondered, what was going through the minds of my ancestors, when they moved up here...

Why the hell is it more expensive for a tee shirt without a pocket than one with a damn pocket?...

What the hell is a pocket doing on a tee shirt in the first place?... Has anyone actually ever used one for more than two seconds before they realize how bad an idea that is?

Pockets are literally a built in self destruct feature, as after handful of washings they develop holes near the top edge of the pocket seam.

    What a friggin' racket.

Just pissed because it's cool this morning and I wanted to wear a cotton tee shirt (instead of the "32°Cool" athletic type tee shirts I've been wearing all summer) and all I can find are stupid old pocket tees with hole at the top of the pocket seam.

I also need to understand why people buy $50+ tee shirts that don't imbue you with magical powers... What eff is wrong with people?... it's a friggin' tee shirt.

Edited to note that this was going to devolve into a long diatribe about how I tend to wear black tee shirts and jeans all the time and the how that's no different than characters in popular culture that have recognizable outfits they are easily identified by, like Count Dracula's cape or Sherlock Holmes' deerstalker hat... but I decided to curtail that to save everyone some eye strain.

Those are some gorgeous photos!  And the second two would make some nice backdrops I think :>

    Eep, I forgot about the thread again I'm soweee ;v;

Couple weeks back it poured down rain pretty much all day, and for some hours really hard too.  I can't really remember a day where it's rained that hard for that long in my town. Almost as hard yes, but not nearly as long.  It's been pretty quiet since then, like it unloaded all its 'making up for lost time' rain all at once xD

Depending on how large the files are and what caused the hard drive to go bad, download them onto a flash drive.  That's what I did when my hard drive went all wonky this summer.

..ugh, two bad gateway errors in a row on two different threads, one that required a couple extra screen refreshes to clear.

Just realized I can't install either my CS5.5 or CS5 into Windows 11.  Not a big deal as I have CS6 for Photoshop and some other software.

I'm wearing a pocket Tee right now...it's at least a decade old, and no problem with the pocket.  People used to keep cigarettes in this pocket (I didn't, don't smoke), small cell phones, pens, sunglasses.  I haven't bought one in at least a decade, but the few I still have still are fine.  They weren't fashion statements that costed $50 when I bought them, though.  Perhaps that's the difference.

Urgh! I need a lottery win. I should never have looked on eBay. I guess that pre-order will have to wait until next week.

Our kitten has now discovered the top of the curtain rail. On the back of the sofa, he can get to the top of the curtain in two jumps. When he reaches three months (next week), I'd like to try and "clicker" train him. The internet says that it's possible... Although, at the moment, the thought could be classed as an "Expectation vs. Reality" meme/thing.

There's something a friend said in a message to me about our kitten. That if things carry on the way they are, Toby's going to become a real piece of work when he's older. Just watching him as a kitten now, I think my friend is going to be right. This must've been what happened when our ginger and white boy was a kitten (1995 - I wasn't really around when our ginger and white was growing up - I was in school, or out with "friends").

Sorting out maps ooof.  Having to carry stuff between apps there's a lot of that going on, and it's SUCH a pain when the textures are in weird places or named in strange ways...

Sorting maps is all I seem to do these days, and in my case, it's not just between apps. It's between computers... Plus, the maps are the wrong way around. It was originally a Lightwave model, so those maps need to be flipped horizontally... At least (looking at one map), that's what I'm hoping.

Thank you for that observation, hacsart.  Now Jim Croce's "Rapid Roy" is stuck in my head.

...same here, but for different reasons, like why did I ever get into this 3D graphics thing?

Well, actually at the time I was still working when I did (albeit in a low paying occupation) but not in a fixed pension income and prices have become a lot higher (like for upgrading my more than a decade old system to keep up with it).

My legs are cold.  It is too cold for shorts this morning.  I wish I knew where I put my pants.

It means you shouldn't pour milk down your back to relieve your back pain.

Hope your back is better soonest.

    Rant boomerang:

I prefer my tees have a pocket. It started as a convenient place for cigs. I quit smoking 8-7-87, but ink pens were part of my everyday work (lab tech) so I continued to buy pocket tees. Then along came cell phones, so I still wear them.

I suspect this may be why plain tees cost more (less demand than pocket tees because cell phones).

I like black tees and jeans too. Maybe Johnny Cash (The Man In Black) is an influence?

    End rant boomerang.

If I can get my twenty high back at my new place and set it up, I think I will get guppies!  I just want one boy and a bunch of girl guppies.  Guppies aren't known for being horny.

I had guppies when Mambo number 5 was popular.  To be honest, I joked around with my family that it was sung by Mr Guppy and all his guy friends.

Visited my little boat today to get it ready for taking out next week, as we're fast approaching fall. Pontoon was slippery. It's always slippery, because no one ever bothers to put those sandpapery stepping thingies onto the planks. Usually, I know and take lots of care. This time, I didn't.
Fell smack into the water on the way back from the boat. BUT managed to a) throw the hellishly expensive battery for my e-motor onto the pontoon while falling, and b) throw myself across one of the moorings so at least my head and upper arms weren't submerged. Saved my beautiful vintage watch that way. Oooh, the water is so cold already ...  Had to swim round the boat with my jeans trying to pull me downwards into a cold wet grave (well ... sort of ...), and put down the bathing ladder. Luckily, it worked. I got so cold in the water so fast, and there was nobody around at all ... but this way, I got back onto the boat, and finally to my car (didn't fall in a second time, at least). Then stripped off most of my soaking wet clothes, put the jacket back on and a pair of winter boots I fortunately had in the car from my mom - and drove home 45 minutes that way, no trousers and all.
    Man, what a day.

I think sailing season is finally over for this year.
