Whoa! THAT is awesome! That hair, that car, that background ...everything is great and so realistic ('cept maybe the police shirt).

The clothes really are getting left behind, imo. The characters and props are looking more and more photorealistic but the clothes are almost always a fast "give away". I hope that the PAs start making more real looking clothes soon.

Really excellent render, Serene Night! It makes me want to touch that guy's arm and feel the arm hair - looks so real! :D The hair on his head looks great too. What is the cop's hair that you used there?

Yeah agree with you about outfits. I only had two police outfits, and sadlly none of them have the realism that looks great in iray or are for generation 3. I chose this one because at least the sleeves were shorter.

The hair is george's from the george hair set. It looks very good! I subdivided his hair and arm hair to 2, and I think it looks great. George's hair has one problem. The nape of the neck. Looks odd to me. You'll see it in my next one. Decided to add a few red and blue spots for the police car. You can see the nape of the neck from the backn then.

Excellent! Thank you! The George's hair promo images don't give it justice. You really made it look GOOD. I always forget to subdivide for more realism too, so thank you for the tip! :)

I agree with Diva, the render looks great but the police shirt does not, and the hair of the speeder does not. I'm not rich enough to afford a car such as that but that is one odd shaped seat but then I used to work with someone to owned a car that the door opened like a DeLorean (however the car was not a DeLorean).

Vehicles are problematic at DAZ I have discovered. I didn't realize this unitl I tried to design poses for them. When trying to choose a vehicle for the traffic stop scene, I was suprised to discover that Michael 7 did not actually fit in either of them!. This vehicle- had to be dialed nearly 20 percent larger to get Michael 7 to fit inside. This was a disappointing revelation, but may explain why some vehicles don't include poses. They aren't designed or sized correctly. Of the two, this one had a window that could roll down but not all the way.

Hopefully another blue cop shirt will be produced so the cop can have a new shirt. I wasn't thrilled with the logo especially either..... But what can I say. My next render, will catch some highlights in Peng hair. But wanted to try something different.

I quite like this, but looking at the large version, I'm reminded that no one has every made ear and nose hair sad     But yeah, shame about the shirt

  • Yeah, I agree with everyone else.  It's a great render.  You did a marvelous job on it Serene Night!  That shirt just throws the whole thing off.  You would think that someone could come up with a better cop uniform.  Paramedic and other service uniforms would be nice, too.

It's not even that it's THAT dated looking compared to some of the newer clothes - I mean I'm looking at some of the clothes that came out THIS WEEK even and they don't look a Whole Lot better IMO - I just think that clothes are a bit overlooked by the content creators often times (it seems like) when it comes to "pushing the envelope" and trying to get as close to photorealism as possible. Most shirts and pants that aren't SKIN TIGHT seem oddly puffy and don't hang right and the wrinkles often don't look realistic. I'm guessing that making clothes must just be really damned hard. I certainly have NO CLUE how to make clothes, so I am likely just not understanding that perhaps the tech isn't there yet to produce photorealistic clothes (or at least clothes that look as close to realistic as some of the new characters do in Iray).

I HAVE seen a few clothes in the market that look pretty good with more realistic looking folds and more realistic hanging, but it's kind of rare.

Like the shirt in the Montana outfit, I think that looks pretty good. Better than a lot of other clothing items I've seen.

Seems like many other clothing items could use some work to get up to the level of the character's realism. But again, I don't know anything about making clothes so it might be either crazy hard to do realism in clothes or perhaps even impossible due to the tech limitations. I think we probably CAN get close though - seeing that shirt and a few other clothing items in the Daz store. *shrug*

I'm sure we'll eventually get there. I'm looking forward to seeing more and more realistic looking clothing in the future.

Nose and ear hair would be awesome! He needs some!

I'd really like some police style glasses. We don't have enough sunshades for Genesis 3 men. Several I tried did not even fit properly around the ears or eyes. And the cop is straight Micheal 7, nothing else. I settled for placing them on the top of his head, but dang...  I also wish when glasses are made that there is also a prop set to place manually or to use as a prop to put in the character's hand or to fold on the desk. fighting the posing control dials is agony to try to place sunglasses manually on a character, when you don't want the glasses to warp when placed because of autofit.

The cop shirt comes in brown and a darker color too.

I'm re-rendering it slightly darker, we'll see how it looks in the morning.

If you have Mech4D's 2nd set of iRay textures you could probably use those to create a more realistic shirt texture and then use LIE to paste on a PD patch from some fake PD department.

I agree the Montana shirt looks good but I don't know why those Brazil style hip hugger jeans bug me to no end. On second thouh a paisley shirt like that is typically a much more glossy rayon looking fabric but otherwise looks real good.

Her texture didn't improve the shirt, I'm afraid. Still terrible. So I will just live with it. But I appreciate the suggestion. For now, he will remain... A member of the Special Police Force.

The police shirt would probably look better with SubD (I'm not sure it has it, some of the shadows look like Base resolution), and some tweaks to the surface.

If it were me, I'd add Parrotdolphin's fabric (or some other fabric) texture for cotton/linen with a good amount of tiling and make bump strength JUUUST high enough. I'd probably also make it darker and adjust gloss a bit.

I was inspired to see what I could do... and found that I have a police uniform. _michael 3_

Surprisingly, it fit tolerably well, though the utility belt was just insufferable (I could get it to sit approximately right, but getting it to fit through the belt loops? Ha ha no)

Texture was decent, actually. Could probably improve it a little with parrotdolphin or fisty and darc fabric stuff, but I didn't feel like I needed to.

Considering  that is G3 that looks pretty good!

  • nonesuch00nonesuch00 Posts: 18,269

    Yeah, that does work.

Note that I fit Generation 3 onto Genesis. I could PROBABLY have pushed it to G2M, but didn't feel the need.

Just taking Russell out for a spin with his newly Cross-figured converted MA-1 Jacket (didn't want to wait and see if we get a Male version) and wearing his Construction Jeans. I think he is got a bit of a Brian May thing going ;-)

@mal3Imagery NICE!! Great atmosphere. You and Serene also really make that hair look good! :D You guys have sold me on it for sure.

@Serene Night I think that last one is the best one! I really like the lighting there, looks really natural.

Thank you for the poses, btw! :)

  • Well done, Serene, on those changes- and thank you for the poses.

Mal-love your suits.  Seriously.  Not to mention the men you put them on. :)
