I'm utterly in love with Leo, he has such an interesting face. And even looks good with a beard! Unfortunately, I discovered that my lovely glasses, when directly lit cause weird polygon shadows and I don't know how to fix it. :| But I still like this render. Also the first of 2017.

    The render is very nice!

Those shadows... if you render in Iray, you could try enabling the caustic sampler, I think. And/or subdivide the glasses, if they aren't already (and if they survive this, not all models do).

Caustics, huh. I'll have to try that, I've not played with that setting. Thanks for the tip. And I probably can go back to Blender and poke at the glass lenses again, see if I can smooth them out some more.

If you're going into blender, I'd check the normals as well, those can cause problems

you might be right. I did use a solidify modifier on a plane to make the lenses, but I didn't apply it before exporting. You guys are a wealth of ideas, I love it!

  • @Knittingmommy, that.....actually didn't even occur to me to try. Hmmm. right now it's the Solid glass shader, I could try the thin glass one instead.

I don't know if it will make a difference because I haven't had this happen yet.  But, it is the first thing I would try to if you can get rid of the artifacts.  I've managed to collect quite a few glass shader which have come in handy because there are definitely differences in glass especially when you add in lights.

All right well, I feel like a complete dumba**. I'm rerendering it with the thin glass shader and switched the lenses to High Resolution and render sub-d to 2 and it's perfect. No weird shadows, looks perfectly fine. I'm such a stunade. I'll post the new one once it's done. *wanders off grumbling*

  • @mal3Imagery I don't know how you get such beautiful results with blender, but I bow to your mastery. That is utterly gorgeous, I love the lighting and his outfit and of course the model is scrumptious. yes

Here's the rerender of my previous one, Leo in my glasses, which work properly now. >_>

That looks really good now. What was the final solution?

I'm so glad you got it working.  You are not a stunade! I don't know what that is but you aren't!

I agree with zombietaggerung.  That is just SO.... mouthwatering, dropdown sexy gorgeous!

    Thank you! :D

The thin glass shader instead of solid, and bumping up the mesh resolution to "high resolution" instead of "base". Which I don't know why that didn't occur to me before, since I used a subsurf modifier in Blender to give them more detail.

@Knittingmommy Thank you, I'm glad I sorted it out as well, I fought with that original render for three days trying to figure out what was causing that and for it to be so obvious, just.... And "stunade" is Italian for "dummy", my mom use to say it all the time when I was little. And I kind of feel like one now. laugh

Ah, well, we all feel that way at one time or another doing all of this stuff.  I haven't tried modeling those type of glasses yet.  They are on my to do list, but I haven't gotten there yet.  Maybe after I'm done with my bread modeling, I'll give it a try.  You managed to model some really nice looking glasses.  Congrats.  :)

  • Thanks Knittingmommy and zombietaggerung :)

What's this thread doing all the way back on page 4 of the forum? Lee 7 (with HD add-on) to the rescue to bring it back to glory on the first page!

  • People have been busy, I guess.  Nice Lee 7 render! :)

Some of us are suffering in a heatwave crying   (btw that's sweat, not tears) .  This image is to remind me what it's like to sleep without a fan, not to wake in a pool of sweat and not having 60kg of dog fur laying against me, making it worse lol

  • Nice Butch! Looks so peaceful. :)

  • ButchButch Posts: 798

Thanks, KM.  Reality's not as peaceful and it's much, much sweatier, at the moment lol

As for the "cuddly" it's one of the "tender moments for G3" poses.  I didn't change anything, apart from the fingers which you can't see since the crop.

The dog does not make it worse and you know it! You'd be lost and couldn't sleep without it.

My dogs are my cuddly babies. They pile into bed...sometimes taking part of my space, but I never make them move. The one even waits for me to brush her teeth when she first gets on the bed. (The other one hopes I will forget she is there when I have the tooth brush.

That's certainly a pale young man, Will. Syurp looks a little purple. Guess he's waiting for them to bring the silverware. I've had that happen a few times. I've got the food and no way to eat it.

  • Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,040

    Albino. ;)

And yeah, that's what I envisioned. I hate when that happened (I had silverware I could have used, but I like the scene. ;)

As for the syrup, it was a little tricky. If you look at the plate, it looks more amber. It's catching and intensifying the color of what's behind it a little, I think.

Oh, those pancakes look good, except for the syru. Good job on the albino too although his fingernail are too red.

  • ButchButch Posts: 798

Two dogs at 30kg each.  Unfortunately, when one decides she wants to stretch out, she's almost the full length of the bed.  Luckily, overnight, when it's cooler outside, that's where they prefer to be.

And, in a few days, when he's collapsed from hunger, you won't even care wink

It's perhaps obvious the tunic shader is a procedural generation thing with no actual maps.

It's perhaps less obvious that so is his skin.

Skin & hair look excellent but his tunic looks like it has Moire patterns even at that high of a magnification.

Bought the wolf as part of a sale, and wanted to try him out along with Lord of the Snow. Plus it was a chance to use Look At My Hair for the first time and to use some of Ron's brushes.
