I think the Complaint Thread and the Stupid Thread were started by our late friend Jaderail, and I believe those were the names of the first iterations.

Complaint Thrread was started by KMWill(iams), when dinosaurs ruled the multiplex and streaming video meant walking to Blockbuster in the rain.

    LOLlaugh

@ Richard: Do you remember the title? As I posted earlier I think it was "All Complaints Answered Until the Top of the Hour"; but I'm not absolutely certain of that.

I thought it was just "The Complaint Thread", the second and subsequent splits were just "The [adjective] Complaint Thread". From my list, which I kept to avoid duplication, I think the second was "The Frivolous Complaint Thread".

OMG... they're keeping files on us.surprise

I was rummaging through a box of photos a few days ago and found a photo of the corporate LeatherGryphon from 35 years ago when he was half as old as he is now.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Apple.  No standards.  They do things their way, period.  You need to use iTunes on your computer and connect to that.  I've been going through this with Diane's iPhone and iPod.  I hate it!  I always end up frustrated and angry.  You can get non-Apple software that says you can do this without iTunes, but in the fine print you'll find out that you need iTunes...because these other softwares are just go-betweens, or perhaps they piggyback on iTunes.  Just adds another layer.  She's looking into getting an Android phone from a friend.  I'm happy.

    Dana

the plugin sd readers they sell for iphone seems to be only for pics and vids.  says it's not for music.

    i'd never buy another iphone.

After my other half (Max) passed away in '94.  (26x32" oil portrait entitled "The Snow Prince" by Erwin Mayr in '91)  Looks much more realistic in person.  The many thin layers of pigment give it a depth and glow around the head that doesn't come through in photographs.  Still hangs on my wall.

Erwin was a friend of ours.  In Washington he did many of his florals and when commisioned, had done portraits of political people, the Austrian ambasador and prominent members of the Washington gay community.  Max's portrait was a gift from Erwin for the help that Max gave him in getting established in the art galleries in Washington, DC.  Over the few years we knew him he also gifted us another original oil floral, and three signed lithographs of a series of three of his magnificent florals ("Despair in NY", "Prosperity", and "Life").  I have them all properly framed now and proudly on display.  Erwin died less than a year after Max.

..well not much into Italian opera (never cared for the contralto style), but when it's music by Debussy, Ravelm or Messein, it's usually a glass of conoac or a halfway decent wine.  If it's Chopin or Paderewski , it's usually Polish Potato Wodka.

Oooh, that was in the middle of the Stranger Things era! (I still need to watch season 2, and I don't care if it's for kids.)

I know!?! Mondays are bad enough, don't get me wrong, but they're more like plunging your hand down the drain in the shower, or pouring a bucket of cold water over your head. You don't allow yourself to feel it to the fullest extent. Tuesdays are like an 18-hour workday in the beige paint factory.

You get it! Every other day has its thing. Tuesday's are definitely beige. And not even a good beige. A faded, forgotten, endless Beige.

It's... not ugly enough. I wasn't capable of getting that exquisitely hideous shade of dirty yellowy-beige that's a Tuesday.

Insult to injury... my clever response would not even post. I said something like:

It is difficult to capture the apathy that is Tuesday. I'm sorry for any emotional anguish just contemplating this has caused you... or others.

We just need to hold on to the hope that Wednesday will eventually come... somewhere... probably...

  • Tuesday has been my happy day for the last several years.  It's the day when my local grocery gives 5% off for seniors.  It's one of the two days that I regularly would dust off the automobile and go for a mini-adventure to neighboring towns or even  the nearest city.  Tuesday was one of the three days that the local garbage transfer station (i.e. dump) was open for business.  Tuesday was the day that I anchored my life around.yes  Now, without an automobile it has lost its significance except for the 5% grocery discount but since I can't carry more than a couple bags per trip, it doesn't help.  Blah Tuesday. indecision

Totally not what I would have pictured... maybe it’s the squirrel avatar throwing me off, but I pictured Sam Elliott, circa Road House...

Nobody ever looks the way I picture them from their avatars... Hivewire has a thread “Show your mugshots” and I’m never even close on any guesses.

Its surprising how many people aren’t actually dogs or cats.

For example, I’ve never seen Clohole’s photo, but I’ve always figured the old crone waving a stick is to throw off everyone and in reality it’s more like Linda Carter waving an axe... maybe a machete... probably a machete.

Thats an extreme example, but at this point I’m probably off with everyone.

When I had my previous avatar, someone in a thread thought it was a self portrait. I never wear magenta lipstick! Maybe I should get my nose pierced, though.

I never pictured you as a confederate soldier... so now I’m imagining a whole Wolverine/X-men thing going on... I was wrong about the machete, and it’s really adamantium claws... cool.

yes,  had great fun doing ACW reenactment for about 10 years.  Sometimes I was a southern Belle,  like mainly in the evenings, but when it came to battles I liked to be where the action was.  That particular photo was taken at an event to raise money for charity and we were working in an arena, which can be quite challenging when you use explosives to fake cannon shot landing,  and yes off course cannon and the guns were all black powder or self loaded black powder shotgun blanks.  was why I called that photo "play battle"   Difficult to have a real full scale battle in a showground arena.
