Why do they call it base jumping? I would think the base is where they land, not where they jump off!

Base because it is jumping from a fixed platform rather than a moving one like an aircraft

USA tied Argentina 2-2. That's probably what the yelling was about. "Yay! We didn't lose!"

Went to visit Dad for the customary June Birthday/Father's Day bash. My father, sister, step mom and Fiancee ALL have birthdays in June (and that's just the local family- about a dozen of my cousins in Arkansas are also June babies). My Aunt came down from Arkansas to visit for the week, along with my Step mother hoard of children with their grand children. Had five kids between the ages of 4 to 8 running around like headless chickens having a grand ol' time.

I wish I could have bottle some of that energy. I need a jump boost as I fuss with my images.

Those games are strange hey, if teams draw in the footy final here they have to play again cos there can only be one :)

...team USA blew a 2 - 1 lead in their World Cup match vs. Portugal with less then 2 minutes to go in stoppage time to end up in a draw.

Dang, misread Portugal as Argentina. OK, time for those reading glasses. :P

Sorry, world football (soccer) lovers. Soccer is just one of those sports that I just don't understand the appeal, like cricket or hockey.
My brother loves soccer and has even coached non-league soccer for children (his kids all played - all 6 of them). He has tried to enlighten me, but nada. Mea culpa,
    I don't hate it, I just don't get it.

    am I just missing something? Isn't a '2 - 1 lead' just one goal?

Well, I don't hate it, but I don't follow it. I guess it takes some discipline to keep from grabbing the ball. Just about every other sport with a ball you use your hands to grab it in some fashion. There are exceptions, like in games where the "serve" is part of the game...tennis, volleyball, Jai Alai.

I couldn't tell you. It seems obvious, though. I think the point was that they had that slim lead with two minutes to go and blew it.

...well for myself, the more important match is tomorrow: Croatia vs. Mexico. Should Croatia win or draw they are in the round of 16.
