Complaint: Why can't they make a doggy pee pad that doesn't turn  into a slick as snot death trap? I accidently stepped on the pee pad where it had been peed on earlier ,and it was like stepping on a icey pond foot shot out from under me and I ended up full lenght in the floor . Luckily  I seemed to have split a finger nail top to bottum ,bruised my arm and squished my fat .......the plus side being nuthin broke ....... however it took me 15 minutes to butt walk over to a chair I could push against the wall and use to get myself up .......wonder if more bruises will show up tomorrow .

I think your dog is trying to kill you... normally that's a cat thing... are you sure it's a dog and not a cat?
Sometimes cats will dress up like a dog to get someone to adopt them, be written into their will and then the next thing you know the unsuspecting person is falling down the stairs with a pee pad under each foot... that's why it's called "Cat-fishing"... the cats "fish" for someone they can scam into thinking they are an adorable puppy, chinchilla or monitor lizard.

But it's also entirely possible your dog is just a jerk.

The pee pads are good for sliding around the house if you flip them upside down and tape them to your feet... few people notice that in the famous scene in Risky Business where Tom Cruise goes sliding into the room in his underwear singing "Old Time Rock and Roll", his socks are actually pee pads... if you play the scene back slowly you can see the socks are just pee pads wrapped around his feet with medical tape.
It actually required a lot of takes to get that scene right and they had two big Saint Bernards peeing constantly to keep the pee pads fully saturated.
Eventually, Cruise got it right, but the next day he had really bad diaper rash on both feet... in some scene you can notice he's walking funny because of that.

I'm glad you weren't hurt by your "dog's" attempt to off you... stay alert.

You know what you said about squishing fat... it's like I said to my wife when she fell... "don't think of it as fat, it's nature's air bag... but not air... fat"

Now that I've said it again, it doesn't sound as good and I guess that's why my wife threw her shoe at me...

Well... feel better and keep an eye on that "dog".

Aw, jeez... I'm sorry to hear that... I didn't know about the poor pup's condition or the other one passing.

You have my sincerest condolences, I know what it's like to lose a furry friend and it's really rough.

Be well and hang in there.

LOL. Finally got it to work. The discount was actually 25% off, so it was more than the delivery fee. But I had to hunt down the code from a random flyer for a location in another state! They sure don't make it easy.

I'm creeped out by the fact that the Walmart app knows what I bought in-store when I never log into anything there. They must be tracking me by payment method.

    weather alert

    Air Quality Alert
    Affected Area
    Northwest Suffolk County

Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an air quality index value of 100 for ozone. The air quality index...or AQI...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated...the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young and those with pre existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician.

I didn't feel breathy until i read that.  eek

The marine weather statements,  i don't think its possible to dumb it down more than they have.  roll eyes.

oh yeah, ya know how i was bitchin bout the webp promos?  figured out i can save the whole html page, brings the images down as jpg.

What browser are you using?  I thought I told you before, but, if you right-click and Save As... then click the drop down, you can select "All Files" and just replace the .webp with .jpg.  It's pretty simple!

...yeah with cities and states re-opening, it means more cars are on the roads and streets.   In cities like Portland (which is in a valley that is prone to inversions) this will trigger unhealthy air alerts again this summer, and starting in mid July come the wildfires will onlt increase that to "hazadous".

Glad I'm used to and comfortable wearing a mask.

    Or the tracking chip...

Did a Walmart employee wrestle you to the ground and inject you with anything or perhaps put some kind of collar on you... anthropologists are always doing that me... the collars are annoying, but at least they have gotten smaller as technology has improved.

Non-complaint:  OK, after building a computer on a motherboard that I was forced to buy in order to get a near MSRP price for a RTX 3060 graphics card for a different computer, did I save any money on this computer build?  Well, no.frown  But I saved a lot of money on what I could have spent to build this computer.

I had several parts already in my stock or as hand-me-downs from other machines.  Some of the items I'd had for years and would probably have never been used without having been pressed into service for this build.  I had RAM, a case fan, a simple graphics card, a hard drive, an LED RGB strip, and a Windows10-Pro key.

To build the computer cost me out of pocket about $479, but the current price for all the parts that comprise the completed computer would have been about $898.  So, it can be argued that I saved $419.  Yay!

But is this computer that I built worth $900?  How does it compare to pre-built machines currently available?   Comments?

My only regret is that I didn't spring for a bigger M.2 principal storage device.  Perhaps a 500GB instead of 250GB.  I actually have a spare, still new, 1TB M.2 NVMe drive on my shelf but didn't feel this computer needed all that much storage.  Yet.

I really don't need this machine, but it has been fun building it.  I could sell it for $600 without feeling too guilty

Edited to add:  Note:  The RAM cost is complicated.  The 16GB RAM is hand-me-down from another machine but I bought 16GB of better RAM for that machine and donated the old RAM to the new computer.  So, I had out of pocket expense of about $149 but the way I look at it, only $49 was for the old machine.  The other $99 was a cost incurred by the new machine.

We don't really get that much smog here because of the proximity to the ocean, but the pandemic did highlight a noise pollution issue... I don't live that far from some major roads, but the lack of traffic early last year made a notable difference... it was very peaceful to be outside.

Not entirely related, but sorta... There was a brief period of like two weeks last year where it was like driving early on a Sunday morning... then more cars showed up, still way, way below the normal number of cars, but you'd constantly find that idiot taking the opportunity to drive 90+, and even a few probably going well over 100... eventually though, traffic returned more or less to normal... Maybe it's because recently a lot more people are on the road, but the number of accidents and really, really, really bad drivers has dramatically increased.

For some reason, outfits like jumpsuits that use just one texture all over reminds me of poorly textured job.

Not poorly but not well thought out. Maybe better making a tiled shader instead?

...yeah been on Long Island before (not just to fly in/out of JFK or LGA airports) and at least it's pretty open to the ocean. Valleys are bad for smog because as I mentioned they are conducive to inversions which trap smog close to the ground. Denver and LA have the issue because they are on the lee side of the mountains and have a lot of vehicular traffic (smog is possible in Denver even in winter).

I've been noticing a more and more motorists here who appear to need a remedial course in driver's ed after not driving every day.   At one intersection I frequently cross at, few even bother to stop, instead jsut roll right on through the stop sign as if it wasn't there (not a "California stop" either).  I'll see them block crosswalks and even advance on pedestrians in the crosswalk almost to the point of almost touching them with their bumper.  I simply wait until there is no car approaching within a block of the intersection I am about to cross at before proceeding as I am a bit slow thanks to arthritis and advancing age.

I've also seen more incidents of motorists speeding up in the attempt to beat a read light (often blasting through the intersection well after the light turned red) when they could have stopped.  This also makes me hesitate for a couple moments at signal controlled intersections even though I have the green/walk light.

Seems we also need mandatory "impatience management" training as well.
