Complaint:  Rainy, blah day.  Had to go uptown again to see my cardiologist.  Once-a-day bus scheduled to arrive in my town at the grocery store at 8:10am.  It's a good thing I started early because at 7:55am before I'd reached the grocery store, the bus came while I was still 100 feet (30meters) away and was about to drive off.  I had to jump into the street and flag him down.  At my age that's getting to be problematic.frown

Non-complaint:  Bus driver went off his route to take me directly to the medical center.  Wheee..., no waiting for neither a connecting bus nor an Uber.yes

Complaint:  I thought I was so smart to have remembered to go to the bank while I was uptown.  Only to discover that today is a bank holiday.indecision  Needed to do something that required a human teller, so again, no banking for me today.sad

Rain, rain, go away.  Come again, some other day.  No, nevermind, I'm home now.  Keep on rainin'.

I just saw a $5 off $7+ item at one of my favorite stores.  Of course it can't be new items or under $7.  I hope I chose a good item?

I actually got a render done last night. My computer hated it. It was a comparison of Geneghhhhhht\sis 8 Male character, and a Genesis 9 conversion.

It's so friggin' cold, and I'm so tired.

I could've done stuff today, but I couldn't be bothered. I expect it will be the same tomorrow :/

I know that feeling... had to come out here to cool off as a converted clothing ate up all my 64GB's and then some when starting to render and came close to taking down the OS before I killed DS.
Of course I hadn't saved the changes I made to the character and now have to try to remember what I did...

Complaint?  I've only been home half the day today, yet the local fire siren has blown at least 4 times this afternoon.surprise  We get very few fires these days.  Now it's mostly emergency local medical care provided by the town and only weakly funded by contributions.  Taking care of the "Help, I've fallen and can't get up." people, or the "Help, I've locked myself out of my house." people.  Or the "I can't afford a proper ambulance or taxi or Uber, please take me to the hospital for free." people that call every week.indecision  Don't get me wrong, I appreciate having a volunteer service like that, and am glad they are there.yes  Although, I was taken aback this past summer when one of the biggest and oldest, and most historical houses in the town, catty-corner across the street from the fire department building, burned to the ground, sad along with the non-vacant house next to it,no and scorched the side of the house across the street.frown  But fortunately, despite being so close, the firehouse itself is made of brick, so no worries there.cheeky

..ugh, just as i was about to head to the market, it turned windy and wet.  42°, pouring rain, and 10-15 mph winds (the latter which is made worse by all the tall condo buildings in the area) makes me shiver just thinking about going out in it, even for three blocks.  I have food at home but wanted to get a few things for the weekend (out of bacon and the Safeway has a great deal on a 3# pack of thick sliced bacon).  Tomorrow will be a better day for shopping, low 50s, sun and very little wind, but really would have liked the bacon for tomorrow's brekkie.

..about ready to shut down the system and turn when I just heard several gunshots outside (window closed).  I live in a new relatively upscale neighbourhood (in one of the few subsidised low income buildings which were mandated when development of the area began). and find it disconcerting.  This isn't the first time either but definitely was semi auto fire as the shots were in rapid succession.

    Life in the big city.

    Nite all.

Yep, gunshots in the night!  It's always unsettling, but as nice as the inner cities can be, there are places that are not so nice.  We lived on the edge between the big granite and marble government buildings downtown, and the area 12 blocks north of the National Museum of Art, and 8 blocks north of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC.  We lived on the corner of 6th & "P" Streets, NW, (6th street is a major north/south route through downtown DC, also identified as US Route #1 that runs from Maine to Miami), and just a block away to the east (at 5th & "O" St.) was an area identified in the nightly news as the home of "The "O St. Gang".frown

And I'm sure that we even knew some of the members of the gang.  Not well, but by sight because they frequented the same little bodegas and locations we did in our neighborhood.  A couple of them recognized us but as long as we didn't interact except by acknowleging nods, we never had any trouble.  They were content with shooting at and getting shot by their known enemies at night.yes  But bullets through the windows did cross our minds.surprise

Our WashDC home was a 2-storey brick townhouse with full basement above ground.  We were on the corner so we had windows on two sides of the house.  LOTS of windows.sad  Which were a pain to clean, and required lots of curtains ($$$)frown, but made the house a lot more cheerful and light than the homes in the middle of the row.  And on the long side of the house it had 6 bay windows which made for some interesting interior decorating options (and lots of curtains).

It's been 30 years since we sold that house, but In the latest GoogleEarth photos I see that the trees have grown a LOT, and my wonderfull, wooden picket fence that lasted for 25 years has now been replaced with a hedge and typical WashDC style iron fence.  (Gray house on the end in photo below).

Been watchin' it.  Why else would I ramble on about my old house?devil  (Well, actually, I just like to ramble. blush Also, the ever approaching light at the end of the tunnel is no mystery anymore, so rambling about the past becomes more attractive.)

...I guess nothing lasts forever.  I will admit the iron fence and hedge still looks better than the chain link fence next door. It also appears that the one on the opposite side just had new windows put in.

Yeah, the old homestead I grew up in has seen changed as well.  Gone are the two large maple trees (one in the front yard one in the back) and a smaller pine tree and flower bed along the side yard.   There used to be three windows in the front and two Emerald Green Arborvitae trees by the porch which are no longer there.  The back yard is much smaller due to the addition of a large garage (we didn't have one, Granddad rented space in a two car garage down the back alleyway).  There is also now a "privacy" fence surrounding the yard which is new (we had a picket fence that was mostly taken out later save for along the back alley.

Of course the biggest loss was all the old elm trees that lined the street, now gone due to Dutch Elm Disease which was ran through the upper midwest like a wildfire (the elms were replaced with maples which have finally grown to a decent height but do not provide the lofty canopy of leaves that the elms did)

..ever see one of those presentations?  They are pretty much over the top..  Though agreed, in some ways not so much embarrassing as more unnerving as they paint a bull's-eye on you and your home for every crook and scammer.

That's why I like our state's lottery.  The prizes aren't anywhere near as astronomical as for Powerball or Mega Millions, but you can choose to stay incognito from the public eye if you do win.
