I was having a terrible time the other day loading any of my pictures. So it might just be a glitch in the forums as well.

The pie safe is really nice!  I haven't tried blender again since I ran screaming in the other direction sometime last year.  I am working on learning to model in Carrara which seems to fit me a bit better at the moment.

You did a nice job with the filters!

    Beautiful Render! Well done!

Empty space or special characters in file names causes failed uploads sometimes.

Thank you!  Ahhhh... I have one more I will do too for fun. Thank you for the info. It behaved itself this am.

I know the Sepia filter is some where. I just don't use it that much. Found it! :)

I was wondering if maybe that could be the issue too. It worked this am. :)

Thanks! :) There are a few more utube videos out, which is helpful. I seem to be getting it more this year than last. I watched a video by the blender foundation and the guy giving the presentation said take a break, work on a variety of things, and a few other good tips. Oddly, enough I have been doing. I guess it helps. I do know once in a while the brain fog I am sometimes inflicted by lifts and things seem much clearer. I do think doodling in hexagon helped a bit. :)

Add: FeralFey has helped me with a few different things that have been very helpful. :)

Some other things I have been doing, besides modeling.

I have been enjoying the nice warm 40 degree weather and the sunny skies we have been having. So, I have been outside a bit more lately and doing some work on the farm.

I have ordered/gotten a few things lately to hopefully make my "art' a bit easier and fun to do.

One is a comfy office chair. I gave mine to my partner Jim when he moved up with me 6 years ago and my butt has been tortured since. It's bad enough I can't sit for long to begin with. LOL

I got some brushes for Photoshop. I really need to look into making my own for PS, figuring out in Gimp how to make similiar ones as in PS, and learning to paint with them. I have made brushes for Gimp they were more static type ones though I have done a few of the other type. I have less control over the brushes and my painting. I am not very good at to begin with.

I ordered a graphics drawing tablet Huiron H610 Pro. FeralFey told me which one she has, so I did a bit more reading on it. They claim it works in Gimp too I am hoping. I got a tablet years ago and it seems to just argue with Gimp. It does not work in Windows 10 anyways and there are no new drivers. Painting with a mouse is doable but is a pain in so many ways. I am wanting to finish painting the funky uvmap on the Daz cow and using a mouse just is a struggle. The tablet should be here about Thursday. :)

If I come up missing for a few days again there are reasons.

  • Those are lovely.  I think the second might have a slightly older effect, but both are good.  I'd love to see the black & white if you manage to get that uploaded.  As for the picture itself, I love the overall look of it.  Very nice.

I LOVE my drawing tablet.  I have a WACOM that was roughly $179.  My husband bought it for me for Christmas about 5 years ago and it works very well.

Check Deviant Art for free photoshop and gimp brushes.  There are literally thousands of them lol.

We took the dog to the park yesterday.  In February.  Its never been warm enough to do that around here lol.  I guess no more excuses on cleaing the yard of dog mess either.

I badly need a new office chair. And a bigger lap as the cat insists on laying on lap even if I happen to have the keyboard or the tablet on my lap.  They don't both fit lol. He is such a snuggle bug though I have a hard time telling him no.

I have been a bit sidetracked lately with the warmer weather. I got my carrier/pallet for my poly tank and sprayer built. I just have a few more things to do to finish up the set-up, then I can spray my compost tea on my fields and pastures. Today it was foggy, rain, and slippery icey. Blah.. So, I stayed in and worked on some different things.

I got the smaller wacom one for about $75 the other day. It came with the Corel paintshop pro so I snooped at it. There is some interesting filters it came with. My huion tablet ordered from amazon came with nothing but the tablet and install cd. I sent it back and just picked up the wacom tablet.

I have gotten a few brushes from deviant art before, but thanks for mentioning it.  :)

I have  a chicken house to clean once it unfreezes. I could not clean it right now even on a 50 degree day too many days below zero.

I love my chair. My butt thanks me for it and yea the cats are able to sit in my lap now too. :)

Ok...so one of my projects was this. I just tossed it in a scene with one of my daz cows and tossed some surface color on, so it is not very pretty. :)

Add: I will play with the filters in Paintshop pro and my native woman pic above and post them :)

  • Your cow doesn't look too impressed with the new gate.  :)  That camera angle and the way the eyes are looking at the gate are cute!

    Love them all!!

Thanks :) Yea silly thing. I suppose she is thinking where am I going to wander off on here?? hehe

Cows are notorious about finding places in a fence line to get through. Mine know they get in trouble if they go somewhere I did not take them first, so they behave for the most part. :)

I said I was going to play with the photo filters in paintshop pro I got with my wacom tablet. Fun, fun I really like some of the affects. The other bonus is they tell about the history of the types of photo/camera/film used and when starting back about 1839 is the first called Daguerreotype.:)

Will just load and let people look at those they want. The first one is my render (original) no changes. The sunset and vivid are just playing with some other photo filters.I did nothing extra the filters are just applied to the image to get the various results below. :)

I was thinking about my barbwire fence. I did some more texture work on it. I created a normal map, but I think I need to do more with the shaders and surfaces tab. I think the posts should look 'rougher' in texture. It is possible I won't be able to achieve that affect. Anyways, here is some more updates. Ol' Poly is still not happy with me. lol

I have done the renders in 3DL. I have not tried them in Iray at this point.

Add/edit:  I played around some more in the surfaces tab. I ended up using my greyscale maps for the fence posts in bump and displacement to make the posts look rougher and removed my normal maps at least in 3DL.

I just removed the old pics and added new ones with my changes. :)

I worked on the barbwire fence some more. I made some changes and additions. I have 7 pieces total now. I dug out the one barn I got and 'built' my fence near it, placed the water trough, Polly in the scene, a sky box for some background, and the lights that went with it.

Edit: Updated the scene. I think it looks a wee bit better now.

Thanks KM.. it still needs some work, but wanted to see how the fence looked ect. It seems like I always need more light at times.  :)

Yep, I have that same problem at times.  Renders always seem to come out darker than intended.

I think I fixed the lighting and made some changes on her udder it was too shiny. I updated the scene in my previous post. Yea, lighting is a tricky thing and then people have their preferences. I try to keep that motto in my mind, "Art is in the eye of  the beholder'" :)

Thanks! There are 3 cats, a mouse, and a bird. All the cats are either sneaking up or looking at the bird or mouse. Or at least i have added the rest in this scene. :)

Thanks. I have been painting the cow to give her some hair. Well, for now the black cow. :)

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,548

Definitely adds to the scene and makes it believable.  I've finally started adding some of the little details to my scenes, now that I am not so focused on just learning the software

I can understand that part. The little details makes the scenes more interesting for sure at least for me anyways. :)

Well, I painted the 'black' cow hair. I added my black cow's normal maps to the brown cow hoping it would make her look a bit more 'hairy' for the time being. The uvmap really bites, even though I reassigned polys in daz to help that out a bit. I think I need to watch some utube videos on painting hair/fur.

Well, I painted my "jersey" type cow. She is not quite how I painted/envisioned her, but close enough for now. I am just going to keep working on her. I had to use the bump map only on her 'body/head fur' because of the uv is distorted on the front of her head otherwise she looks weird. I am starting to get the hang of the tablet and the pen. I have worked with a mouse too long.
