  • I go to MN all the time! I'm a regular visitor to Rochester's Mayo Clinic, although I'm doing better right now so it's only been an every 6 month thing instead of an every couple weeks thing. My brother lives in Egan, and we get together with him every year, get all dressed up and go to Ren Fair in Shakopee. So much fun!

    I really like the new render, the lighting is fantastic. That set was the only thing I didn't get in that round of freebies. I wanted it but didn't want to buy something else for just the one thing left. Trying to save at least a little money! lol

    @deathbycanon.. Visiting Rochester does not sound like fun for you, but the Ren fair does. :) I can relate to saving some money. lol It just happen to be the one freebie I wanted (wishlist). I really like the lighting. I did add about 2 lights for on her face and light up the moon background I had or it would be too dark. I did learn a lot from that particular set's lights. :)

    @Sonja Thank you! :)

    I am watching the clothing texturing tutorial now. I am learning some tricks in photoshop I did not know.

    I am still watching tutorial videos while I work on other stuff. I learned how to make brushes in Photoshop. There are some differences from Gimp. I know I will never completely give up using Gimp, because there are things I can do there I have not been able to reproduce in photoshop yet.  I do like photoshops ability to change more settings on the brushes. I have not gotten real good at painting with Gimp at this point, but I do think it is a bit easier to do Photoshop.

    I thought I would show a few examples of my brushes so far. I think I am going to dig out my sewing machine books and look up all the different type of stitches and make some brushes. :)

    See if I can figure out how to create 'painted' brushes in PS like in Gimp. Add: I found out that in PS a person can not create brushes in color like Gimp through a utube video.

    I decided to play a little with Monique 8 and one of my new freebies. I really like this scene because they have really good lights and I learned a bunch from taking a good look at them.

    Wow great job on the brushes!  That's a shame that you can't make a colored one.  With all the power Photoshop has you would think it would a simple thing to make that possible.

    Yea, it is strange. It seems Gimp saves what is there(sees), so if I have created something that might be handy as a brush and is colored then it saves it that way.

  • Those are good. I've done a few sewing stitch brushes to help with my texturing of clothes. They are fairly easy to do. If you set up the dynamics, that helps if you are going to be doing a line of stitching. Dynamics works a little differently between PS and Gimp, I think. I like dynamics in Gimp much better than what I've seen in PS. I did not know you couldn't do color brushes in PS. Well, chock up a point in Gimp's favor on that one!  :)

    @Knttingmommy Thanks! I have not got the hang of dynamics in Gimp oddly enough for how long I have been doing stuff in it. LOL I was kind of disappointed with PS. I thought for sure they could do that, but then I can't make plaids in PS, only Gimp too. :) So, any naysayers about Gimp.. :P I like both depending on what I am doing and I can transfer work between them except Gimp's native format we can not transfer to PS, but we can from Ps to Gimp.

    Merry Christmas to you, too! I'm glad your greeting popped your thread up to remind me I wanted to dig through it and enjoy. I really love the overall textures - especially the rainbow peace sign on the patch in your last one. Reminds me of the embroidered patches I used to make and sell to my friends in high school back in the 70s! And the brushes are gorgeous! I tend to use Gimp's brush-making ability to create "stamps" for things that I use over and over.

    Awww. .Cool and thanks! I wanted to try out some texturing again. I got some tutorials for more tips I don't know about. I plan to upgrade some of the stuff i was working on. It seems most of my projects are always WIPS. LOL

    It is a great feature in Gimp I think I made a bunch more brushes for some things I have been working on here lately. :)
