...so much for the big Amazon Prime Sale.  The dual in-window fan I was looking at getting actually went up in price instead of down. It also had reversable motors so it can be used to blow hot stagnant air out. .Definitely could use it this weekend, but not at the higher price.  A traditional box fan won't work because of the type of windows my place has.

I'm using an industrial blower, which draws colder air from a window on the eastern side of the house through a reinforced canvas ducting. Takes the temperature down from 29C to 26C (84F to 78F)

The regular fans had no effect exept causing air movement.

..don't have that option as I live in a multi floor apartment building. Just being able to blow the stale muggy air out at night would be an improvement. Those portable AC units are rubbish and I'd hate to see what it would do to my power bill.

When I was living in New Orleans back in the late 70s, we had two window AC units in the flat.  Our electric bill (two month billing) was running around 75$, yeah, nearly 45 years ago.  That would be equivalent to 330$ toda simply adjusted for inflation alone.

At least in winter I can throw more blankets on the bed and wear an extra layer while sitting at my desk to save on power . (unless it gets bitter cold here lid teens to lower 20s  which happens once in a while)  My average power bill is around 44$ a month but when putting the heat on even for a few days it adds another 20$ - 25$.

and theres the fear it will spring a leak. and it'll come crashing down.  its such a long tunnel. brothers are horrible when it comes to fueling terrors of long cold dark tunnels underground and under water.

i havent been in the subway since 9-11 absolutely terrifying.

...considering San Francisco is relatively prone to earthquakes I've always been a bit nervous when riding the BART to Oakland or Berkeley as it goes under the bay.

...sometimes shopping here can be a real pain.  I was looking through the various new sales for the evening (or trying to) before turning in, and with each new page I went to, there were more and more black squares with swirlies in them appearing, some that took a long tine to clear. Finally gave up.  Did find two nice items in the PC+ for a day ategory that went into the cart.

Unfortunately nothing to trigger added discounts as the only PC+ item tonight is a texture set for another product.

Gou Luk!!! Lately I have been seeing stuff I thought I'd never see in PCFAD. Got some nice dresses too (when I was still using G3, I used the clones from SY to be able to get G8 stuff). But yes, it can be a pain. Still waiting to get my items that I bought recently. Was the third ticket in a week.

Complaint... Do we have to wait for people at DAZ HQ to wake up and inspect our profanities before they will be visible for the rest of the forum(ites)?

I don't even expect my real identity to be fixed this week anymore (time now 08:38)

Edit; Ok, took almost 4 hours

survived my first day back at the office.  had fun stepping on the shipping scale.  i've lost 20% of my body mass, didn't do a thing to bring down my blood pressure.  theory was losing 10 percent would bring bp down.

had my first cup of caffeine in a year.  prolly a bad start to start up old habits, but i was fading.  needed a jolt of java.

and i made it thru the bus trip without throwing up.

    ...congratulations, progress.

For me, life without caffeine is impossible.

...ahh, one more good night for sleeping before the oven gets turned on.  113° now forecast for Sunday  If I could afford it, I'd book a room in a hotel through Tuesday.  Even Motel 6 (which used to be 6$ a night back when it was founded) is now 80$ a night for three nights, that's almost half my monthly rent.

Non-complaint:  Wheee... I've passed, and for a week have stayed below, another weight loss goal.  Yay!yes  I freaked out several years ago when I casually stepped on my scales and it popped up 249.7 pounds.  Arghhhh..., "NOOOOOoooooo" I bemoaned.  The dreaded 250 pounds, beyond which my desk chair is no longer guaranteed to support me.sad  I also found out around that time that I no longer was able to ride some of the rollercoasters at amusement parks because I was just too damned big and unable to secure the safety devices.crying

I re-examined my life patterns (especially the eating part) and decided that serious excercise was not in the stars anymore (arthritis and arrhythmia) and the cost of chemical or surgical ways to shed the pounds were beyond my budget.  So, less intake had to be the watchword.enlightened  It was hard.  I love to munch.  A bag of potato chips is an evil temptation.  Can't have just one.indecision  Cookies also, are minions of the devil.  Thankfully, ice cream had abandoned me years ago when it refused to digest properly.

I'd lose 5 pounds and gain 5 in a couple days while watching my weight compulsively each morning.  Sometimes after a half hearted attempt at dieting I'd find that I'd** lost 10 pounds and get really happy and abandon the daily weighing ritual for a few months.  Only to find myself, at the end of it, up 12 pounds.  Arghhh...crying  Up & down, up & down.  Over & over.  Hovering in the 240s for months at a time.  Then one day I was down in the 230s.  Stayed there for a very long time.  As time went on I made it back up into the 240s a couple of times but eventually would freak out and redouble my efforts.

But this morning after a week of watching the scales hoping they remain relatively consistent, they registered below 225 for the first time in probably 10 years.  And the last time I weighed 225# I was a handsome hunk of muscle (well, I thought so anywaycheeky), with unwrinkled skin, big biceps, thick thighs, daunting deltoids, large lats, proud pecs, taunting traps, adamantine abs, glorious glutes, and I even had hair on my head.surprise   This morning after a couple weeks of hovering in the 225-229 area, the scales actually registered exactly 224.0#  Wheee...! smiley Goal achieved.

My skin no longer hugs my body but has decided to wrinkle like crepe paper and droop when possible.  The hair on my head is long gone(except for the eyebrows and ear canals where it has gone into overdrive), and the muscles are but a memory.sad  However, I now equate the recently noticed easier trips up the stairs and less pain in my feet and fewer loss-of-breath incidences as benefits of my weight loss.  Yay! smiley

190# would be a good weight for me now.  Only 34 pounds left to go.

**  "I'd find that I'd...": Interesting apostrophied phrase.  Translation, I would find that I had ....  English is weird.indecision

62% "good vibes", 36% "a hunch" and the remaining 2% is "it just feels about time"... That's pure science baby!

Non-complaint: Looks like I'm not locked out of the forums anymore.

Complaint: I have no idea how much this last order of fries cost, but it doesn't matter: it was too much. All the fries came super tiny. They weren't even dippable. And the box came half empty.

...here that happens next Wednesday. Great for businesses who have been hanging in there this long, provided we make it through the weekend without becoming a burnt out wasteland (the forecasts are now saying 115° to 118° which is more like Death Valley instead of the Willamette Valley (and I noticed what looked like wildfire smoke on the south-eastern horizon today).
