i accidently deleted my copy of my drawing file.  Then I emptied the recycling bin.  I meant to delete the old backup.  At least I have an extra copy.  Now I need to copy the extra file to the folder "My Documents".

..19:30 and still 109° after a high of 112° . Totally atypical of the usually mild rainy Northwest.

...and we have Monday to go yet with a forecast high of 115°.

Tried to find places to stay cool but some closed early while others decided to not open at all.

Both the street tram and LRT network was shut down this afternoon until Tuesday so can't even ride around on those for the day.

This is why I rarely empty my recycling bin. I have gotten crap for it before, but unless you need the space, I don't really see the point. I'm not hiding porn in there, no one is using my pc but me. And this way, if I need that screenshot from 3 months ago, I can go fish it out.

hot hot hot  no laughing at al gore's power point presentation now

So let me tell you a funny story about Powerpoint presentations.  They're usually not right for everybody.  And sometimes they outright lie.  That's right, it only got to a balmy 88 in Florida today.  Yeah, and it was worse yesterday...it only got to about 85 in between the all-day rainshowers.  My grass makes squishing sounds when I walk on it!  laugh

And no, you can't come here.  We have too many people here already, and not enough of them take regular showers, letting real soap touch their skin.  So we're looking for some volunteers to send to Seattle.  cheeky

Okay, I jest.  People here know what soap is.  Well some do.  And you can come to Florida if you really want to.  smiley

i have to work on an excel speradsheet and a word mail merge.  once i get started it'll be fine, but gettting started is a chore.

These are kind of fun, actually.  I don't have to do these often, but when I do, I feel as though I've actually got a chance to address a real bonafide business problem.  Or rather, hundreds of bonafide, related, and similar business problems all at once!

You're blaming inflation on who now?

Dog.  She typed "god" but didn't capitalize, so she must have meant "dog".  I'm sure if it!

.."Real Feel" (heat index) here made it feel like 121° today. Even in the shade it felt like standing behind a jet aircraft with its engines running..

I feel bad for people working at restaurants in my area right now. They all seem to be having problems. The first place I went to was super busy, so I went somewhere else, and they were mysteriously closed with no note explaining why. They should have been open for an hour and a half longer according to their posted hours.  A couple standing by the door explained that the nearest A&W had just turned them away because they were out of food. The place across the street had a note saying they were low on ice and sorry for the inconvenience. Which is weird, because I would expect Applebee's to have their own ice machines. But I decided Applebees wasn't for me (no veggie burger), and went back to the first place. After finally getting through the line, I discovered that their AC was broken. The poor girl at the window looked pretty miserable.

Sometimes it feels like 2020 never ended, and maybe never will end. It's just going to be fires, heat waves, blackouts, crime sprees, and conspiracy theories from here on out. Let's not forget about the murder hornets either.

Also: I went to a gas station I don't usually use and they actually had video ads at the pump with sound. It was supremely annoying to be hearing about TikTok influencers while trying to pump gas. I really hope this doesn't become a thing.

Last note: Today it got to 110F. That is just crazy. For comparison, the usual temperatures for June here are in the high 60s to mid 70s.

I remember being in Korea when gas prices were at their peak back home in America, and marveling at how much less they were paying for gas....before realizing that the prices were per LITER, not per GALLON.

That is why the manufacturers outside of US are not using excess fuel to cool down the exhaust system cheeky

Yes, we have no fresh pickings today.

That uses "I'm Bringing Home My Baby Bumblebee" melody but I don't know which came first.

Regarding commercial video ads at the gas pump.   Don't use your credit card.  Use cash.  Return to the cashier when done pumping and proceed to describe in detail the wonderful objects you have for sale at your yardsale this weekend.enlightened  The cashier is a captive audience and must listen to you until he gets his money for which the drawer is already open.  Provide no stop mechanism for your spiel, continue with your ad, to completion.  It's called "Forwarding the misery."devil

I just read an article saying that lots of local restaurants are closed because they either don't have AC, or thier AC broke. So maybe that explains why that one place was closed early.

  • Sfariah DSfariah D Posts: 26,221
    I think AC is nice.

i could toss my tea into the harbor in protest, but is too expensive to waste.  my tea comes from Ireland, nothing to do with gas prices.

cant tell if i'm too tired to take a shower, or is apathy

trying to work on a spreadsheet, it keeps freezing on me.  boss man insists on using one drive, totally sucks.  o365 keeps freezing, no appearance options, so i cant see the formula box.  right clicking on the a chart to format it.  messag says somethig went wrong,

they moved us away from google drive, this is so much worse.

i remember when they moved us away from ibm for microsoft.  os warp was a perfectly capable os.
then they moved us away from novell and lotus ccmail for ms versions.  novell had it all. they got greedy,

they took away oracle for ms sql.  lotus 123 for excel.  we used to use word perfect, not really sure what happened there.

i remember when installing ms office was 26 floppy disks. 1.44
